A title perfect for gamers of any age. It's safe for kids as there's only animated violence and it sports a simplified control scheme, yet it has enough content and challenge to keep experienced adult gamers entertained for quite some time.
  2. Bandai and Ganbarion hit the nail on the head making this title mimic the One Piece anime, yet placed it into a genre that allowed them to add their own flavor to the series.

There's enough content and replay value to keep you busy for hours -- even more if you hook up with friend. Factoring all the elements this title offers makes it a no-brainer for anyone who's wanted a fighter that's simple to play, entertaining, and offers long-term value.
  4. Fans of the show and gamers just looking for a personality-filled, arcade-styled game will be pleased.
  5. The presentation isn't perfect, but it fits the bill, and the fighting system has more longevity than I expected. Anime fans shouldn't hesitate getting into this Grand Battle.
  6. 75
It's a rarity for any fighting anime game to have any sort of substance, style and especially, playability. Bandai has done an exceptional job in capturing the show's trademark comedy and battles.

A fun game marred by a lack of innovation. It looks good and sounds decent, but most of what you'll find in One Piece has been done before and done better.
  8. It is limited in a few ways, namely in the number of characters (a total of 16 with unlocks) and the depth of the fighting system, but it is also something I can see as a great party game for groups of casual gamers of any age.

Fans wil enjoy the customized in-fight dialogue between the characters. [Nov 2005, p.108]
  10. A passable fighting game, but has nothing to recommend it to people who are not fans of its namesake anime and manga series.
  11. Grand Battle might be alright for two-player games, but the single-player experience is worn out in six hours or so, and I'm not sure how many people would want to jump into a tournament with this fighting system.
  12. What sets it apart from the rest, though, is the much more lighthearted and more adventurous feel it holds.
  13. Only two things really let me down. First off was the combat system. The dated concept puts two players against each other while lacking the fun multiplayer options most of the other games have.

Light on substance and heavy on style. If you're a One Piece madman who simply has to have everything to do with the series, it's not a horrible game. It's just not exceptional. As a multiplayer party game, it's good for a quick fix every once in a while.

To start, the good parts are the base gameplay, and the graphics. It uses a good looking chibi style. The main gameplay is a 3D fighter, and that part is fun. There are a decent amount of characters, and the fighting is a bit complex in a good way. The stages are all really cool and interactive, and every stage is unique and fun. Story mode is neat but pretty minor. The mini games are awful, all of them are unreasonably hard and mostly not fun. There are a ton of unlockables, but I can't figure out how to unlock them. Oh also it was made with 4kids so the dubbing is weird and they changed some characters names and stuff. Every character has a fancy and unique special attack that looks really good. Thats about everything, good game. Don't spend a ton on it but if you can find a cheap copy, go for it. Full Review »
