Unmatched in its field thanks to major improvements in every category combined with a deeply rewarding simulation experience.
-
Simply put, NBA 2K3 is the best basketball game ever made.
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyWhile "Live" has made great strides this year, 2K3 is so far ahead of the curve, it's astounding. [Dec 2002, p.236]
-
The most true-to-life representation of basketball in videogame form yet. That's not saying that it's perfect, but for its simulation value it's very hot.
-
Plays like an authentic NBA game. Teams shoot around the 40% Field goal percentage range, dunks are down, and finding the open man is essential. And I for one, am quite pleased.
-
Nintendo PowerSega's excellent NBA series takes another step toward perfection by paying more attention to basketball's nuances. [Nov 2002, p.224]
-
Has some annoying flaws--the default passing system can be inaccurate, especially on the fast break, and there are some weird problems with shot selection--but in truth, these aren't flaws that dramatically hinder the gameplay experience.
-
About the only caveat one should offer when discussing NBA 2K3 is that the game is for the serious basketball fan. To have any fun with it, you have to play like you would in the real NBA.
-
Street mode play feels like the same thing over and over again, and the franchise mode also lacks spice. Its hard to play this game and have unique experiences.
-
If youre after a wellpolished and accurate basketball simulator for solo play only, then NBA 2K3 is a good choice, but most people will be better off going for "NBA Street."
-
Play MagazineAlthough the player models look better than they do in EA's game, the movements aren't as fluid. Some of the animations (especially passing) are a little awkward. [Nov 2002, p.88]
