After playing a lot of Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and Mario Tennis on my Gamecube, I went on the lookout for another fun multi-player excursion. I came across Mario Golf and decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.

The main problem with "Toadstool Tour" is that it lacks energy and excitement. Every hole seems exactly the same...blast the ball a few times and then fiddle around with the putting. There seem to be no "cool secret moves" or new things to discover.

Not helping matters are the shoddy controls. Putting from short range is an exercise in frustration that immediately turned me off to the whole experience (kind of turned it into a button-mashing frenzy).

This one will not stay in my collection alongside the previously mentioned Mario multi-players.

Bad game... almost like mario golf on n64 only with better graphics, more characters and some slight changes which make it even worse.

IT SUX. Its not realistic. They turn invisible when they aren't in a good enough position to hit the ball. The comentary is repetitive. If you get a birdie it says Nice Birdie. It always says that. There is no humor! IT SUX

Absolutely horrible. The least realistic, least intuitive golf game I have ever played. Gameplay is the like a mini-game from Mario Party. Boring, frustrating, unbelievably badly designed and generally just poorly conceived. Maps are amazingly dull, badly layed out and downright infuriating at times (you can get STUCK!). Ya i played this game its nothing to brag about....its to easy to control, and probably one of the worst Golf Games ive played, they should have stuck with the first one and not made a Mario Golf so bad.

This game is nowhere near as good as its predecessor on the N64. These super long hitting clubs make scoring an Albatross/Double Eagle (The hardest shot to get in all of Golf) much easier than a Hole in One. The exact polar opposite of Mario Golf 64 and real life. Practically begs to be played with other people. [Oct 2003, p.75]
  2. Gives Nintendo fans another dose of the old faithful cast and crew, with a few new[ish] faces bolstering the otherwise familiar line-up of characters.

If you seriously want to leave an impression on the checklists and charts, we're talking hundreds, if not thousands of hours play. Taking into consideration the multiplayer elements and potential for repeat plays there's probably more to do than you ever actually will. [Oct 2003, p.112]
