I Have been Homeless for about three days now. When my house burned down I could only save two Items. My phone (so I could write this) and Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. Even though my Gamecube burned down in the Fire and I can't play it. It is truly the best game ever.

Very awesome game! The graphics are great for the NGC. The controls are good. The character selection is okay. The courses are awesome especially Cheep Cheep Falls because of the music. Mario Golf Toadstool Tour is a great game and you should definitely buy it! And if you hate Mario Golf, you're BEYOND silly as JB.

It's pretty much what you would expect. It's fun with others (as mario games are always). There are no real surprises here. You get exactly what you pay for.

I absolutely hate sports games but somehow, this game just made me came to like golf. The amount of modes and the fact you can play with others using only one controller is amazing! The graphics aren't too shabby, and the system used to golf is amazing! If you are a golf or Mario fan, you should definitely have this!

With easy controls and the real complexity of golf, Toadstool Tour offers a great sports game that retains the Mario charm and is fun to play alone or with friends.

Not the music in the Tournament but the Normal Stroke Play, Double, etc. one. The mechanics are the best in the series with Simple to Advanced shots, etc. The challenging modes like the Putting, Driving, Chipping, etc. are fun. I'm sorry for all you Birdie fans out there but I thought the Birdie Challenge was trash. Still, it's a playable game which gives this game a score of Nine out of Ten. Mario Golf Toadstool Tour is a great Classic IMO and one of my favourite GameCube Games and I still play it to this day. And if you hate any of the Mario Golf games, you're BEYOND silly as JB; I recommend you get this, you can probably find a copy with a case and original artwork for about $10 USD, definitely worth it but I didn't get it because I obviously already had it. There's really no need in explaining the 'plot' or familiar gameplay elements that are in similar casual golf games, so I'll cut to the chase: It's a highly addictive golf game with a pleasant 'Mario' style that is best enjoyed with friends. There are a few mini games which I've honestly only ever slightly dabbled in, and the game does have a bit of hidden depth. Spinning the ball can be a particularly advantageous way to play if you wish to approach the game in that manner. Furthermore, the player can choose to manually hit every shot for more accuracy. The game runs smoothly, and the controls are very fluid. Plus, there are no graphical hiccups to speak of. All of the characters have unique attributes, and play significantly different. The courses are also all wildly varied, aside from the the first two, which end up feeling too easy and bland once the player puts 5+ hours into the game. And that's my only complaint. I can understand having one very easy course, but the second one should have been more difficult. Despite that minor quibble, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour has stood the test of time, and is my second favorite video game ever made, closely behind TMNT: Turtles in Time for the SNES.

Each course has it’s own distinctive theme, including Lakitu Valley, Blooper Bay, Bowser Badlands and more. The character roster is great with a couple obscure picks including Petey Piranha and Shadow Mario, and this was the game that introduced Diddy Kong to the Mario franchise. The core gameplay and controls work very smoothly. You have the option to go automatic if you’re less experienced or manual to apply a topspin or a backspin. The game was visually amazing at the time and even today it all still looks beautiful. The music is all quite memorable and definitely gives out those charming gamecube vibes. Each character has their own post-hole animations depending how they do, which is a nice touch and really shows the characters’ personalities so well. There are even golfing minigames to play like ring shot, coin shoot, and others that are more of variations of the main game. This makes the sport of golf a thousand times more fun, with so much content to deliver giving it a ton of replay value! Expand

The main problem with "Toadstool Tour" is that it lacks energy and excitement. Every hole seems exactly the same...blast the ball a few times and then fiddle around with the putting. There seem to be no "cool secret moves" or new things to discover.

Not helping matters are the shoddy controls. Putting from short range is an exercise in frustration that immediately turned me off to the whole experience (kind of turned it into a button-mashing frenzy).

This one will not stay in my collection alongside the previously mentioned Mario multi-players.

IT SUX. Its not realistic. They turn invisible when they aren't in a good enough position to hit the ball. The comentary is repetitive. If you get a birdie it says Nice Birdie. It always says that. There is no humor! IT SUX

Okay, to begin with I should say I gave Mario Golf for N64 a 10/10. But I believe this is a slight step backward. Absolutely horrible. The least realistic, least intuitive golf game I have ever played. Gameplay is the like a mini-game from Mario Party. Boring, frustrating, unbelievably badly designed and generally just poorly conceived. Maps are amazingly dull, badly layed out and downright infuriating at times (you can get STUCK!). I don't need a perfect simulation for my golf gaming fun. This game provides plenty of challenge (after the first three courses) and boatloads of replayability with a plethora of different game modes. Waluigi's birdie dance is almost worth the price of admission by itself.

If you seriously want to leave an impression on the checklists and charts, we're talking hundreds, if not thousands of hours play. Taking into consideration the multiplayer elements and potential for repeat plays there's probably more to do than you ever actually will. [Oct 2003, p.112]
