It's a very nice mansion. I just feel sorry for the ghosts that have got captured. I love the things about the mansion. The mansion is big and I love it! I wish they do a second game of it.

Great fun! Despite only having six hours of gameplay, unlike other games, you never get bored towards the end. Nintendo have finally used Luigi without Mario hobbling beside him like he always does. Highly Recomended!

"Luigi's Mansion" is a game that didn't seem to get a lot of love upon its initial release (in fact, I didn't get to play the game until 2013). That's a shame, because "Luigi's Mansion" is one of the GameCube's best titles.
With great visuals, fun gameplay, a charming storyline, catchy music and hilarious antics from Luigi himself, the game simply has it all.

If there is anything I could say bad about the game, it's that it is fairly short. One playthrough won't take more than 4-6 hours, which was probably a good way to keep the game from getting overly redundant. Even so, if you can get past the short length, "Luigi's Mansion" is an absolute romp that should sit among the very best of the GameCube's library of first-party titles.

I absolutely love the concept of this game. this isn't a traditional Mario game, and that's what makes it special. I loved exploring the creepy mansion and catching all the different types of ghosts was extremely fun. This game is definitely in my top 3 Gamecube games.

Luigi's Mansion is a fun but forgettable game about catching ghosts with a vacuum cleaner. The game has tons of charm but has some faults such as unbalanced difficulty, imprecise controls and an unusual turning circle. It is hilarious to see Luigi getting money for dry humping cabinets, though.... "Nnngg, Nnngg".

I myself am not a Luigi fan and yet I still loved this game. It's amazing, fun, a little bizarre, but still colorful and mesmerizing! The premise of the game is that Luigi won a mansion in a contest he didn't even enter. Not being even the tiniest bit of spooked, Mario goes up to the mansion, planning on surprising his little brother, only to be captured by ghosts! So now it's up to Luigi and his new machine, the Poltergust 3000, to suck up all the ghosts.

In short, go go from room to room collecting ghosts and money. But there are some ghosts (more humanoid ones) who are not captured so easily, and require more puzzle-solving skills in order to capture. The game keeps a good balance of difficulty. Still challenging but not frustrating.

The only real problem with this game is the length of it. An average Mario game takes about a week or two for most people to beat, maybe even a month. But this one can be completed in less than a day. No joke. And because the mansion in the game is so huge, there's going to be some back-tracking involved.

Aside from those problems, the graphics, music and even the charm in this game really make this an enjoyable game. I'd highly recommend it!

There is a low chance of it happening, but if you want a higher percent chance for it to happen, then you have to beat the game 6 times on each files. If you get it to work, after you beat Bowser and King Boo it shows a close up on Mario and he is still banging on the glass as if you didn't defeat King Boo. The lights go out and it shows Luigi's Poltergeist 3000 releases King Boo again and he going into the celling. When he does this you will see a picture of Dry Bowser on the celling on the room. Luigi will get sucked into the painting. you battle of the roof again, but the background is blue fire instead of red fire, and it is the same cut scene when you fight bowser, except it is Dry Bowser. King Boo has 1000 HP instead of 500 HP. When the fight is over, you will get 2 extra gold diamonds (The gold diamonds are Dry Bowser's eyes). After you exit the painting, the ending of the game will still happen normally and you get a picture of Dry Bowser and King Boo instead of Bowser and King Boo. Good luck trying to find Dry Bowser.

I will be posting picture of the boss fight very soon. Probably 10-31-13 or 12-25-13. I haven't chosen a date yet. It is going to be one of those dates. And the place where I am going to release it has not been chosen yet. And if the pictures get enough publicity, then I will post my video of me fighting Dry Bowser. The boss fight is pretty hard (a lot harder than the regular boss fight). It is actually very hidden. From what I know, it can't be found when digging through the game's data. I will be posting more info about the boss fight throughout the year.

Fortunately people see the game's incredible impact now and frankly so do I. This time the guys at Ninty I guess watched Ghostbusters one too many times because this game just simply screams that movie. Luigi wins a mansion from a contest that he never entered and asks Mario to meet him there to see it. Luigi arrives at the location (which is conveniently in the perfect horror setting) and finds the creepy house staring at him in the face. Luigi decides to check the place out, but can't find Mario. Suddenly in the midst of this EXTREMELY dark place, ghosts attack him. Fortunately Luigi is sort of saved by an odd old man named Prof. E. Gadd. They both escape the overwhelming onslaught of spirits and retreat to E. Gadd's nearby lab. Luigi tells him about his predicament and asks him if he had seen his brother. E. Gadd remembers seeing someone in red enter the spooky place (undoubtedly Mario) and agrees to help Luigi find his brother and his missing ghost paintings that had escaped since the mansion appeared (thats right the mansion appeared out of nowhere right next to his house). In this game Luigi uses the only arsenal capable of defending against ghosts. A vacuum cleaner, flashlight, and cool looking Gameboy (dubbed Gameboy Horror) to hold data, a map, and find hidden items. The device to capture ghosts is the infamous Poltergeist 3000, which E. Gadd had apparently been using to catch the spirits all those years before. Luigi can catch ghosts by flashing them into shock, which then leaves them open to be vacuumed. The ghosts all have health though, and special boss ghosts especially have an enormous amount. The key is to explore all 4 sections of the vast mansion, while looking for clues on Mario's whereabouts. Eventually you meet Boos in the game, which begins a huge hunt for them while you progress in the game. Soon you find out that Mario is trapped in a painting by these fiends and you must catch them all to make it to him. The leader of this army of ghouls is none other than King Boo himself. This game is really fun, but what makes it so distinct is the concept. Ghost hunting is a very lightly touched genre in gaming and surprisingly it's a perfect fit for Luigi's cowardly, but reluctantly persevering persona as he desperately fights not only the many ghosts in the mansion, but his own fear to save his older brother. The atmosphere is scary for a Nintendo game. The dark portions of the Mansion bring on a very grumpy tune that I'm sure everyone remembers and it's unsettling, but charming to see Luigi hum it along to keep himself calm. The difficulty is pretty tough, especially during the black out scene. Overall though the game provides lots of entertainment but is kind of short. The sequel would fix this, but the game does not suffer much for its length. Collecting money really makes you a money grubber and gems are hard to get, but reward you in the long run. I would give this game a spin if your interested. It's really an underrated classice. Expand

Luigi's mansion is a must have Gamecube title. It's enough to buy a Gamecube just for this game, but if you have a Gamecube or wii (which plays Gamecube games) then you need this game. Pros
+Unique gameplay featuring horror and comedy themes to the storyline makes this a fanastic new experience for old and new players of the Mario franchise.
+New characters bring a new atmosphere to the Mario series - new additions such as Professor Gadd and the ghosts have a backstory which will keep players interested as they venture through the game
+Sound effects bring a new experience as if you are playing a horror game.
+There are a lot of cameo and easter eggs for some of the items, music, etc players encounter/experience.

    Cons
-Game is really short - it would take players at least 6-8 hours to complete the game to its fullest
-Camera control is non-existent and due to that players could possibly make small mistakes during the gameplay due to the lack of camera controls/aiming issues.
-Although there are remixes of older Mario songs and of the Luigi's Mansion main theme - the OST is not as varied as previous Mario/Nintendo games.

A totally charming game that really tries to do something different. Generally very easy, with one or two extreme difficulty spikes. Aside from it's charm it does get a tad repetitive and doesn't really have to much variety in its activities. Overall: A pretty decent game that is fun to play, but don't expect anything to grand from it either.

Very underrated. It's not long or difficult, but it's very entertaining and charming with deceptive replay value. In attempting to create what amounts to little more than a graphical showcase as a launch title for Gamecube, Nintendo inadvertently made a quirky little title that deserves a place in any Gamecube library and that is one of my fondest adolescent Gamecube memories.

It isn't very scary, but it is definitely spooking and creepy the first time you play through and are some parts that are actually scary. I don't see anything bad about this game at all, and I think its quite underrated. I have played this game nearly 20 times through and would gladly play it again if my disk wasn't broken :(. the only problem with it is that its short, not like how portal 2 is short, but like short as in you really wish it could have been like another 3 or 4 hours longer at least. Luigis mansion is an 11 hour long twin stick ghost catching game where you play as luigi who wins a mansion only to find out he was tricked! It’s a haunted mansion and Mario is somewhere inside, it’s up to you to catch ghosts and free your brother…
Luigis Mansion is still a really good game, here you have a vacuum to suck up ghosts and a flashlight to surprise them, once you surprise them their hearts how allowing you to suck them up, one you’ve finished a room you’ll unlock a chest usually with a key inside leading to the next room, though each room feels new and exciting despite the gameplay hook being the same from start to finish… this is the Mario world version of a resident evil game, you go into rooms, take on special ghosts that usually require a little riddle or puzzle for you to figure out to be able to capture them, rinse and repeat until you take down an areas main boss and move onto the next section of the game, there’s just this unexplainable addictive hook to this game, you just feel like you have to get to the end… and the game does a great job of slowly adding in new mechanics and new gameplay elements the deeper you go, as you’ll be able to use different elements such as fire or water to solve puzzles, and eventually there will be a 50 boo hunt inside of the mansion… giving you even more incentive to explore every inch of this mansion… though all the great things being said.. this is a nearly 20 year old game and its plays this way… I had to invert the controls to make this game even slightly playable, and even still the controls in luigis mansion feel sluggish and unbearable at times, it isn’t as simple as flicking the stick in the direction of the ghost, you have to turn luigis entire body, and worse is, his body turns based off of the direction he is facing the camera, so during hectic fights with ghosts, you’ll be fighting with luigi just as much trying to fish these ghouls inside your vacuum… but eventually you will become accustomed to the way game used to be, but it never stops having its moments of frustration, especially during boss battles…
Luigis Mansion is a classic, and while I don’t feel the original luigis mansion is a must play as things start to feel repetitive pretty quickly and the game does overstay its welcome, I don’t regret going back to experience this classic for the first time
    I give Luigis Mansion

Luigi's mansion isn't a bad game, in terms of its mechanics it was great for its time but it is a very brief experience and offers almost no replay-ability. It took me around 6 hours to complete and while it was a fun enough experience it wasn't that memorable. There isn't anything particularly wrong with it, there just isn't a lot that stood out to me as great. The visuals are quite good, the mansion is well designed and looks creepy. The animations are fluid. The story is pretty basic but no worse than other Mario games. If you can pick this game up for cheap I think it is a fun way to spend 6 hours but compared to other 3D mario games it is among the weaker ones. I give it credit for its spooky atmosphere though, I found it much more interesting than Mario Sunshine but that game offers a lot more to do in terms of gameplay and overall scope.

The gameplay is good enough but it is really simple and offers no platforming like past Mario games. That isn't necessarily bad as it is trying to do something very different but it is a bit frustrating to play as a very limited version of Luigi after playing games where he is much more acrobatic. The gameplay is mostly limit to walking around and using the vacuum. It controls well but is nothing special.

Story and progression, are below average. The game progresses at a good pace and I never felt bored when playing so it deserves points for pacing. There are also has a couple surprises but the story and progression were just barely enough to keep me invested for the brief duration of the game. One thing I did appreciate though is that the expressions of the characters and atmosphere actually do a good job of making the game scary.

The World design is quite good although it is very small. The mansion has quite a variety of rooms and secrets that made exploring it quite enjoyable. Still there are many games that have better haunted mansions and are just better all around in terms of story and gameplay.

The visuals were great at the time of release. The affects and animations were also far above average at the time. The props and items are all appealing and the environments are more complex than most Mario games.

Sound Design is decent but nothing special, the music is fine but repetitive. The atmospheric effects worked well to compliment the atmosphere though.

Overall Luigi's Mansion is an average game, it looks good and has impressive physics for its time but compared to other Mario games it offers far less in terms of scope and gameplay.

This game is made for kids who likes a good scare. I remember being terrified playing this. It was my first horror game I played. It may sound stupid to some, but the gameplay is super fun. It is extremely satisfying to catch ghosts in this mansion. The gameplay is super fun, but, it can really drag at some points. There is some backtracking too. For example you'll get a key from the basement and see that it goes to a room on the third floor, so you go all the way to the third floor in a very specific and definitely familiar route. Then you get a key from the third floor which opens in the basement. So you go all the way back in the basement. That can be annoying, but it isn't a big complaint. I fired up an emulator and well, I have to say it’s a charming game, and while the concept is nice, it is let down by terrible controls, repetitive backtracking and bad game design choices. While there is an attempt to have some variation in its’ gameplay, it does little to alleviate the fact that the core gameplay boils down to holding down the right trigger and wiggling the right stick. You basically do this for 8 hours straight. Towards the end, the game starts padding your time by making you hunt ‘hidden boos’. These things keep running from room to room if you don’t act quick with your controls. Now with the game’s terrible controls, this makes it an absolute chore. Thankfully, since I was using an emulator, I could use save states. Without that, you’d probably have to hunt them every time you fail instead of loading a save state and I can’t imagine how sour that would’ve made the experience. The enemy variety is pretty much the same with little to no variation besides just a few elemental affinities most of which barely show up. The mansion itself really lacks in variety for environments and has the same look to all its’ rooms/floors. I guess I expected too much from such an old title but Luigi’s Mansion is definitely not a good game. Still, there is a bit of charm here worth checking out. From whatever little I’ve played of the sequel to this, it seems to be generally better than this one.

Final verdict: A 6/10 even by pre-2000 standards. Thoroughly mediocre.

a timeless masterpiece. the character, the gameplay, the challenge, the replayability. it can be replayed an infinite amount of times and it will never get boring. wrestling with ghosts is quite easy but the player can improve an unbelievable amount and capture almost every boss in just 1 go.

This game is absolutely insane! The bad part about this game is that it's short as heck. Sucking up ghosts is addictive and I cannot get enough from this game. Simple, easy and short, yet incredible funny. Nice graphics, cute characters and quite interesting puzzles. Controller settings are far easier than the ones in the other two Luigi's Mansion games. Good soundtrack. Some boss fights and characters are memorable. A must play, no doubt.

Overall this is a pretty fun game. It is however a little repetitive. Also, the game is very short, you should be able to complete it in ten hours and I do not think there is really any replay value here, so from that point of view it could be consider expensive. Lovely little fun game though and I would recommend playing it. Also, get yourself a copy of GameCube for your library and holdOverall this is a pretty fun game. It is however a little repetitive. I watched a friend from my childhood beat this game many, many times. I always found it fun.

Like getting socks for Christmas, it's good and comfortable, but not what we wanted. [Feb 2003, p.96]
  2. A competent, atmospheric adventure and truly a new direction for the characters, but at this length it simply isn’t worth the £35, let alone the cost of the console.
  3. Potential tension is sorely lacking. However, the challengingly physical and rewarding nature of the actual ghost-catching sequences does go a way to make up for this.
