The first level is no pushover, yet immensely entertaining and freeform, as is the entire game. This is a must have, unless the site of blood makes you squeamish.
-
If you have more than one console then the Xbox is best, followed closely by the PS2 then the GameCube version. In comparison to the others, this one has the slight framerate issues.
-
Fans of "The Godfather" or the more recent "Road to Perdition" will no doubt be thrilled by everything they experience while playing this game.
-
Because of the complexity of the level design, part of the game's appeal is in attempting to find as many solutions as possible. You can always replay a level to try a new strategy or see a new area.
-
Nintendo PowerGorgeous graphics and beautifully orchestrated music set the perfect mood for this amazing game. The open mission layout forces you to strategize, rather than simply running in with guns blazing. [Sept 2003, p.135]
-
A fun, smart action shooter that features a couple of unique ideas. IO Interactive has done a great job of developing levels that really feel non-linear and if you're anything like me you're going to appreciate the logic and AI that saturates each path 47 chooses.
-
Even the most experienced gamers will find a serious, rewarding challenge in the game's highest difficulty mode, yet the well-rounded design of Hitman 2 means just about anyone with a taste for the subject matter, or just a stomach for it, will really like the game and its distinctively cinematic style.
-
A terrific title. Allowing gamers to go through each mission either sneaking around and sporting disguises in third-person mode or blasting your way through waves of guards in first-person mode, the game is a lot of fun.
-
GameNowThis is definitely for the hardcore, as lesser folk will be scared away. [Aug 2003, p.28]
-
Game InformerIf you're a patient soul (there is a high frustration factor here), the strategy of Hitman 2 is very rewarding, and it fills a unique niche on GameCube. [July 2003, p.111]
-
This is a clear example of a shoddy port to a terrific game. No one would stand up to these misgivings on any other title, but for some reason you can forgive Hitman 2. At moments things just get so bad, and the distractions become too much.
-
Cheat Code CentralOne of the smartest, grittiest and most fun things to happen to the Cube in a long time. This game's more than a shooter, it's a way of life.
-
The AI in this game is the most bipolar I have ever seen. The guards range from pattern-driven goons to superhuman logic machines who can see right through disguises, as if they had X-ray vision.
-
If it werent for the low frame rateevident especially in the outdoor environmentsand the really dumb A.I., the action would have been more pleasant. Even the sounds of weapon fire and panicking victims should have been refined.
-
TotalGames.netThis is as straight a port as youre likely to see. Whatever Eidos were doing over the last six to eight months, it certainly wasnt improving the package.
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyOnce you adapt to the slightly weird controls and learn to deal with the unpredictable enemy A.I., you'll find a good-looking game that does an excellent job of putting you in a hitman's shoes. [Aug 2003, p.121]
-
Overall, I found this game to be difficult to get into from a control perspective and then once I became familiar with the controls, the game was an exercise in frustration rather than a pleasure to play.
