Overrated, had nice ideas but is extremely repetitive, which is a massive flaw seeing as the developers ask you to replay it several times for the "true ending". Even with just one playthrough you'll be seeing the same content over and over again. Beat it once and just go watch a video of the real ending, you won't be missing anything by doing this.

Fun for the first 15 minutes, Eternal Darkness coudn't hold my interest. This is an example of a game that focuses all on graphics and plot, yet ignores gameplay. The "original" combat is slow pased, pointless, repetative, and overall, boring. To make matters worse, ED has an increadibly clunky controls which takes hours to get used to, and for the whole game it feels like the Fun for the first 15 minutes, Eternal Darkness coudn't hold my interest. The most overly hyped game in years, Nintendo should just stick to kiddy games and leave everything else to Sony and Microsoft. Expand

Expand

Developers of 3D games should study the camerawork in "Eternal Darkness." It's quite simply a stunning technical achievement.

All of this delightful action and horror comes wrapped in a bone-chilling soundtrack with enough chanting and "what the hell was that?" sound effects to sen dyou running for the light switch. [Aug 2002, p.62]

From cover to cover this game was full of originality.
