  1. If you like fantasy worlds, the Skittles commercials, or witty, tongue-in-cheek games, this one is recommended for you.

Sky's laundry list of quests is strangely solid in both its simplicity and repetitive challenge. [Dec 2002, p.130]
  3. A better game than a Skittles-licensed game has any business being.

Underwhelming from a graphics standpoint compared to today's top adventures, but still worth a peek if you're fond of a good parody or just really like the backside of a shapely female. [Jan 2003, p.76]
  5. Everyone who plays Darkened Skye should at least love the save system. You can save anywhere, anytime, even right in the middle of a boss fight after you've got your opponent's energy half way down.

Filled with some of the finest script writing and voice acting in a game. No joke. While some games like "BMX XXX" make weak, flailing attempts at humor, Darkened Skye consistently pulls off laugh-out-loud dialog.
  7. Gameplay is mildly entertaining at times, but gets repetitive quite often, and the clumsy controls are a pain to deal with, especially when precise jumps is required.

I'd give it an 11 if it were allowed, quick wit and tongue in cheek humor made for more thought than brawn and i like that! All the I'd give it an 11 if it were allowed, quick wit and tongue in cheek humor made for more thought than brawn and i like that! All the controls were customizable so people who complain about the controls you've got options people! Also the skittles made it a little more fun and less guts....i like less guts! Expand

This has been on my backlog since release (2002). Yup. Almost 2 decades.
So far it seems like a decent game I owned for 19 years. I ignored it mostly, thus never knew a couple different things about it:
One, I never know it was published by Simon & Schuster.
Two, I never know "Skittles" were incorporated into the game.
I like how they didn't make it obvious.
Then I did research on this game, surprised to find even more off-the-wall info.
The girl who had to come up with a way to work Skittles into the game only had a couple days to think of something to pitch as an idea, so she went to a bar, got drunk, thinking she was fired for coming up with nothing, then BAM! Her buzz kicked in and so did the ideas.
Not too bad of an idea if I say so myself. (wonder what she drank)?
The game has a few problems, especially with vague puzzles & such, but nothing that's keeping me from playing this for another 19 years.
