Despite this being the fourth UK instalment and despite the core concept being one of the simplest things since Tetris, Wario Ware Twisted feels utterly unique. [NGC Pocket]
-
Simply put, Twisted! is an undeniably brilliant, polished and hugely enjoyable game that should be in every collection, and it stands as an unsurpassable bookend to the GBA era.
-
There's definitely something special about WarioWare Twisted!
-
The innovative controls (did I mention the rumble?), the huge amount of microgames, and the overall quality of WarioWare Twisted! ranks it right up there with the original, far surpassing even the Nintendo DS version as the most impressive WarioWare title yet.
-
Tops the original in terms of intuitive gameplay, graphics and sound... but the basic formula hasn't changed a bit. Which is good, it probably doesn't need to be changed.
-
A must-have for the GBA? Absolutely. It's far more creative, much deeper, and a heck of a lot more fun than previous games in the series, including the Nintendo DS system's "WarioWare Touched."
-
One of the best games ever for the GBA, and one which will probably be the best game for the GBA this year.
-
The best version of WarioWare released to date. The Gyrosensor, though certainly still a gimmick, is a fantastic addition to the series and allows gamers a chance to experience gaming on a totally different and completely matchless level.
-
Its fun and quirky nature will pull you in and won't let you go until you're done with the game, and even then you'll come back for more.
-
Insanely fun to play and is one of those rare games where you'll have a smile on your face the entire time playing it.
-
It is a terrific game with an innovative control scheme that really has to be tried. My only concern is how silly I look while playing it in public.
-
It's worth mentioning that WarioWare: Twisted is best on the original Game Boy Advance because of its one-piece architecture, but you won't be disappointed regardless of which Nintendo handheld you play it on.
-
In many senses WarioWare Twisted is utterly unique, brilliantly implemented and full of surprises. As GBA purchases go, the recommendation comes no higher than this.
-
The gyro may seem like a gimmick – and it probably is – but that doesn't make Twisted any less worthy of the WarioWare moniker – it's fun, challenging, and ever so twisted.
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyThe technology works perfectly - spinning your GBA around feels utterly alien yet supremely fun. [Apr 2005, p.135]
-
Twisted, a lowly GBA game, is everything that the DS-powered "Touched" was not. It's big, it's funny, it's well designed, and it's fun.
-
Easily one of the most ingenious games ever designed. Not only is it one of the most fun games you can play, it's one of the most innovative releases of this - or any - generation of games.
-
It becomes a perfectly credible control system that's not necessarily superior but definitely the equal of conventional controls, at least when utilised in this specific instance. It's something you'll never have seen before and will possibly never see again - and it's all the more fun for it.
-
It's simple enough to pick up and play for a couple of minutes, but engaging enough to keep you enthralled through a long commute or on a cross-country flight.
-
The idea may be twisted, but the execution is purely logical fun.
-
Warioware Twisted does not claim to be more than a string of incredibly daft games that serve up plenty of fun in small doses. It's also the best Warioware (as of this writing) of the series and it brings pointless, time wasting games to new highs.
-
The spin sensor feels less like a gimmick and more like a tightly integrated feature that makes the entire game feel inventive and unique.
-
The music is just as quirky as the gameplay.
-
A must own title for your Game Boy Advance. It's the perfect traveling game even though the story mode is over quickly.
-
Those who were disappointed with "Touched!" can look no further than Twisted!.
-
One of the best GBA games I have ever played.
-
I can't help but be amazed with what Nintendo can do. They utilize innovative technology and combine it with great gameplay, good sound and good graphics to generate a great sequel to an already good original game.
-
Nintendo PowerTwisted literally and figuratively - this one's weird and wonderful. [July 2005, p.101]
-
Those who shirk from buying Twisted! because of its quirky production values, one-track design and, crucially, its short core lifespan are those whose preoccupation with value for money and dependable purchases is slowly sapping game design of its freedom and gaming of its ability to showcase the broadest and most experientially distinct body of work of any popular medium.
-
All and all, WarioWare: Twisted! doesn't do anything drastic to the series, but the creativity and variety of gameplay make what otherwise would have been a dreary rehash into a respectable game that stands on its own.
-
games(TM)Where "Touched" lost some of the series' momentum by pigeon-holing its games into various styles, Twisted! literally swings it back in a positive direction... This isn't just a videogame; it's a tactile test of skill and balance that genuinely challenges more than just your reflexes. [May 2005, p.98]
-
And with this highly interactive, jiggling way to play - clearly the portable precursor to the modern innovative wonder known as the Wii - Wario serves up yet another delicious feast that gamers who are never satisfied with their high scores, or who prefer games that revolve around plenty of action and reaction, will no doubt enjoy digging into.
-
AceGamezLike "Warioware Touched," Twisted can go by very quickly and end all too soon.
-
Play MagazineI had hours of fun with Twisted anyway, but I prefer "Touched" or the original. [July 2005, p.82]
-
Although Nintendo has been visiting the WarioWare well fairly often of late, it still manages to feel fresh and addictive.
-
This must be the first game ever to including a screen warning you to spin your game system around -- but not yourself!
-
The bizarre and intense assortment of mini-games require both deft precision and manic arm flailing.
-
Game InformerIt's random, wacky, and fun - but it's also just WarioWare all over again. [May 2005, p.128]
-
Ultimately, the game is unique, imaginative, accessible and thoroughly refreshing... and perhaps the last commercial gasp for the ailing GBA; however it's no better or worse than its predecessors - it's just WarioWare... with a twist!
