It seems like a shame that there werent mini games or other modes for single player though, since monotony and repetition were the ultimate downers to this title.
-
This is a fairly average title with no fresh direction and without a real challenge it wont keep many Gameboy fanatics busy for long.
-
Game InformerThe combat is basic, sloppy, and imprecise, and the spastic overhead camera often gets annoying. [Dec 2002, p.152]
-
Upon playing the game without actually watching the show, I'm not sure if the game makes the show look bad or this is just a dreadfully poor translation of a good television show.
-
Cheat Code CentralThis game is even worse than the show.
-
The Ripping Friends isn't half-assed. It isn't even quarter-assed. The game is one-eighth of an ass ... at best.
-
This game is for little Timmy, not for you.
-
Nintendo PowerHit-and-miss action. [May 2002, p.140]
-
Without nearly enough sight gags or over-the-top style to actually put that humor in the game, it's kind of pointless.
-
Discordant level design, irritating controls, sub-par graphics and sound, and a general lack of the proper Ripping Friends spirit are the game's most notable features.
-
For a game that offers nothing but brawler-style combat (along with the occasional jump across a ledge), it's simply not acceptable that the fighting itself is such a boring experience.
-
To put it bluntly, this game is not good at all...The utter repetitiveness of hearing the same 20 second beat again and again made the sound more pain than pleasure.
