In some ways, this version of TMNT 2 is better than its console brother. The game play is straightforward, fun, and action packed, all without the trials of camera issues and other problems that the console version endures.
-
Some of you may be in for a shock when you dive into TMNT2: Battle Nexus and discover that it's just as much a puzzle game as it is a Turtles-inspired beat-'em-up.
-
A good title for a younger sibling or cousin, a bad one for a platform fanatic.
-
Battle Nexus is not the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles best effort but if you're looking for a slightly better version of the game I suggest you forget the console versions and pick this one up instead.
-
Nintendo PowerStealth, gymnastics and puzzle-solving play a role in the fast-paced fun. [Dec 2004, p.154]
-
Be warned this game is for true "Turtle" believers, younger children, and maybe the die-hard 2D fanatic. If you do not fall into one or more of these categories, I'd advise you to look elsewhere for your on-the-go action fix.
-
Play MagazineWe're treated to slow-paced gameplay hindered by arbitrary rules - having to start every stage without your weapon, and being forced to sneak around the level to find it, is a huge contrivance. [Nov 2004, p.90]
