Everything looks fabulous and the pinball physics are dead-on, but the difficulty could've used a bit more tweaking. [July 2003, p.50]
  2. 85
With it's fast paced levels, challenging story mode, and mini-games galore, Sonic Pinball Party is a good time no matter how old you are.
  3. 83
A great game, but not quite a must-have.
  4. Play Magazine
    83
With its well-designed tables, wonderful music, excellent visuals, and of course the Sonic Team charm, Sonic Pinball Party is the most fun I've had playing video pinball since quite possibly ever. [Aug 2003, p.76]
  5. Nintendo Power
    82
Three multiplayer party tables and a Chao Garden add to the mix. [July 2003, p.82]
  6. Takes the familiar characters and graphics from three of Sega's most cherished franchises and uses them to create an especially satisfying pinball game.
  7. GMR Magazine
    80
The physics engine is dead on: Balls handle as they would on a real table. [Aug 2003, p.80]
  8. Pocket Games
    80
Take familiar characters, put them no pinball tables, and include a bunch of mini-games. That's a recipe for a fun time. [Fall 2003, p.52]
  9. 80
Sonic's got the best portable pinball game on the market now—his tables are dead simple to get into, and there are enough extras to keep any Sega fan enthralled. It's also the closest thing to a new Nights game you'll ever get.
  10. The only problem is that Sonic Team just tried to do too much with it. Instead of getting a really solid set of pinball tables, it's a mediocre collection of several different play modes.
  11. Electronic Gaming Monthly
    75
Sonic's tables aren't especially innovative, but they do offer quite a bit of variety, and the gameplay is fast-paced and fun. [July 2003, p.117]
  12. TotalGames.net
    70
If there were a little more meat on this, we’d be looking at one of the best pinball games around, but as it stands, we can’t help but want for more.
  13. Game Informer
    60
Solid physics, colorful graphics, and bearable sound do make this a decent pinball title. [July 2003, p.122]
  14. Cheat Code Central
    50
Pinball games are largely disposable and not recommended for anything more than a rental. The same applies here.
  15. Sonic the Hedgehog is no longer a character who can be depended upon for quality games, unlike a certain Italian plumber, a limbless alien, or even an orange bandicoot.

There's nothing I found wrong with it. It's a good time waster. What you see is what you get, a good pinball game on a handheld device with no backlight. I played it on the DS so I don't really know how bad the GBA backlight is. Full Review »
