The animation is excellent as are the level designs. Vicarious Visions did a great job at bringing the Shrek atmosphere to the GBA.
-
The designers have managed to capture the charm and visual style of the films and recreate a small portion of that magic on the small screen the very small screen.
-
It's a fun, easy game to breeze through in a few hours, with a handful of taxing elements put in there for those perfectionist who appreciate a bit of replay value, and want to beat the game's challenges 100%.
-
Remaining faithful to the franchise by displaying it in the manner intended by Dreamworks and PDI, I am delighted to recommend this game to any of you out there who are particularly enamored by the guy in green we know of as Shrek.
-
Pocket GamesComfortable controls and a refined presentation see featured switch-flipping, mushroom-hopping, pumpkin and peasant-bopping antics delight, despite the fact that they're hardly original. [Summer 2004, p.41]
-
Nintendo PowerThe puzzles are cleverly designed to use character-specific abilities to their fullest. [July 2004, p.120]
-
Cheat Code CentralWith 25 levels you would think this game would last a long time. A decent gamer will hack his or her way through this in an afternoon.
-
It's certainly not the greatest platform adventure ever, but it's imbued with the same charming humour as the film, with all manner of sight gags that tip a knowing wink to fans of the movie.
-
A fun, kid-friendly game that also does a good job of telling the movie's story.
-
While mildly entertaining, the GBA library is far too impressive for Shrek 2 to make a name for itself.
