  1. Over the Hedge is far from an impressive game, especially given its ancestry and other current versions. It is apparent that amongst the handhelds, most of the attention was given to the DS version of the game, and the GBA version was simply a cookie-cutter rehash of last year's Operation Penguin from the Madagascar camp.
  2. A simple puzzle game best suited for very young children.
  3. This game is numbingly boring, and frustrating in some of the levels due to the slowness of the characters' movement.
  4. All in all I hesitate to recommend this game, even for kids.
  5. If you have a young child who really enjoyed the movie, they will probably enjoy the game. It's a neat way to try to introduce them to some stealth gameplay as well. Unfortunately, if you aren't young, you will easily find the game too boring and repetitive.
  6. Unfortunately, anyone that's been playing video games for the last few years will only become bored from the low difficulty and repetitive nature.
  7. Nintendo Gamer
    55
Although you can access extras and minigames, it's rather plain. [Aug 2006, p.66]
  8. Nintendo Power
    35
Even with the younger set, this game offers little in the way of challenge--you can purchase health upgrades if necessary, but if they're necessary, you've got other problems to deal with. [July 2006, p.95]
  9. Unfortunately, Over the Hedge for the GBA is a typical example of uninspired licensed game design.
  10. Though it controls fine and seems to offer something substantial at first, I couldn't recommend it for adults or children.
  11. Repetitive, bland gameplay, boring yet decent graphics and controls, and abysmal audio make this a title that will have people lining up at the local game hawker to trade it in for something better.
