  1. I love the show as does the little Bearer, but the characters are just not enough to overcome the repetitive, flawed gameplay.
  2. Cheat Code Central

Only the most feeble of gamers or the very young will get any challenge out of this game. It should have been a mini game.
  3. The collision detection in this game is also downright horrible. You will punch an enemy for 10 minutes before you land a single punch.
  4. Not the worst thing we've ever played for the GBA, since unlike "Mortal Kombat Advance", it actually works. But still, the idea was terrible and the presentation doesn't help.
  5. Nintendo Power

Re-creates the show's fun art style but offers little in the way of engaging gameplay. [Feb 2004, p.154]
  6. A game so utterly devoid of challenge that actually calling it a game almost seems too generous. There's just nothing here beyond a monotonous, pedestrian affair, and it can be completed in a couple of hours with only the slightest of efforts.
  7. Just a very, very bad game. The included battery save feature is about the only good thing about it, since it means that you can shut the game off without fear that you'll have to retread the same boring levels next time you pick it up.
  8. A lame-ass game. Mucha Lucha: Mascaritas of the Lost Code is a horrible piece of work that should have never been released.
  9. GMR Magazine
    20
Eight-bit "Double Dragon" was more fun and more complex than this ostensibly 32-bit outing. What are they doing with all those bits, anyway? [Dec 2003, p.104]
  10. 20
The action is so awful that it's only swallowable in extremely short bursts, and having that save RAM means that players can turn this sucker off without remorse.
  11. Even the most die-hard fans of the series will quickly become disappointed and bored to tears soon thereafter. Very little effort was put into the game’s design or implementation, so you shouldn't put any effort into buying it.
  12. Pocket Games
    10
I'd be embarrassed to gift it to a drooling infant - Lucha is irresponsibly bad. [Spring 2004, p.44]
  13. I absolutely, without a doubt, hate this game. It’s incredibly easy, can be beaten with no problem in less than three hours, and is above all else, not fun.

I finally sat down the other dayAs a fan of wrestling, my curiosity was peaked upon hearing about a Mucha Lucha game on the Game Boy Advance. I finally sat down the other day to play the game and I honestly regret it.

One bit of praise I'll give this game are the graphics, as they did a nice job with getting the character designs properly done.

That being said, everything else was just bad. It feels like WWF Betrayal on Game Boy Color, only even more tedious. The combat is deplorable due to the need to button mash just to eliminate one opponent, the levels are mediocre in design, and the bosses feel easy to beat if you get them into one spot and just button mash like you're hitting a broken buzzer during a game show to give your answer that'll win you 100 dollars.

While the finishers for each character feel nice, they don't make up for the fact that the overall game leaves a lot to be desired. I loved the cartoon when I was younger, even before watching wrestling on TV down the line, but this game doesn't do the franchise any justice. It took me over an hour and a half to get through the entire game from start to finish, but it felt like it took even longer than that once it was all said and done.

Only collect this game if you just want to say you have it in your collection. Don't collect it if you're actually interested in playing it because you'll just feel like playing WCW Backstage Assault instead due to that game having more variety than this game that has a wrestling name/theme to it.
