With its emphasis on grinding and painting rather than going for crazy tricks and high scores, there is something fresh about the gameplay.
-
Still great fun on the Game Boy Advance...even if isn't quite as accessible in its isometric perspective as it is on the Dreamcast with its fully 3D environments.
-
Despite a few little problems, such as judging the distance of your jumps, Jet Grind Radio is a fun title with addictive gameplay.
-
What's funner than a hip-hop skateboarding game? Why, a Japanese hip-hop skateboarding game, of course!
-
Although it can be tough to get into, this is actually a pretty decent conversion of a game that really shouldn't play this well on a Game Boy system.
-
With an addictive soundtrack and a near verbatim translation of the story and gameplay, you'll find that all the praise Jet Grind Radio got for the Dreamcast is well deserved.
-
The fast paced gameplay and looks of the original are still here. Also, the multiplayer and graffiti edit modes give it a good lasting appeal.
-
More than a decent scaling down of a seminal game, Jet Grind Radio is an accomplished and guaranteed time-killer.
-
Play MagazineThe iso-view takes a little getting used to, as does the point-and-go control, but once you're in the groove it's all good, from the animation to the super cool cutscenes and familiar level design. [Apr 2003, p.64]
-
Cheat Code CentralFrom the tight controls to the challenging gameplay and including many tunes from the original this game is highly recommended for any GBA players that want some serious 'tude with their game.
-
It combines the level structure and characters from the Dreamcast game with many of the story elements from the Xbox game, and it does an effective job.
-
It lasts for about 6-10 hours, but its an interesting game and you will want to play it over.
-
A tremendous translation of the home console versions.
-
GameNowSince it uses the same engine as the GBA "Tony Hawk" games, the skaing and grinding action works very well. [July 2003, p.52]
