With the same sort of instant appeal and practically infinite replayability of Tetris, it joins the pantheon of puzzle gods and goes down as another GBA must-buy - so long as the lack of multiplayer doesn't irk you.
-
Maddeningly addictive.
-
Although the strange graphics and sounds of this game seem to have been grafted onto your average puzzle game, the result is quite pleasing.
-
A simple concept that works on many levels, and Rare takes this idea as far as it can with a deep and addictive GBA presentation that's as challenging as it is wacky.
-
Game InformerAn addictive and oddly likeable revisitation of the genre's heyday. [Jan 2005, p.148]
-
Cheat Code CentralObviously It's Mr. Pants has terrible graphics, but they really add character to the game.
-
If you actually manage to track down a copy of this game, know that your effort was really worth it since It's Mr. Pants is one of the best puzzle games you'll find on the GBA.
-
Seriously though, if you can track down a copy of It's Mr. Pants buy it immediately. It's not that it's the greatest puzzle game on the market, but it's pretty damn addictive, and it makes you think in ways that games such as Tetris and Lumines don't.
-
None of the puzzle modes are individually at the pinnacle of the genre, however, and the trial-and-error-based gameplay might only appeal to enthusiasts.
-
AceGamezGreat in short bursts and solving the main puzzles can be a real blast, however the game fails to deliver any serious replay value once you complete them and setting high scores will eventually become dull and tedious.
-
There's nothing cripplingly wrong with It's Mr Pants - far from it. But it's basically a simple case of the sum of its parts not reaching its true potential.
-
Nintendo PowerThe puzzles are incredibly easy at first, but they grow in complexity at a good clip. It's odd, tricky and funny. [Jan 2005, p.140]
-
Mr. Pants the character deserves to star in more than just a puzzle game. He's a goofy, charming product of British humor, so we fully expect a Mr. Pants platform game or (even better) RPG in the near future. Please?
-
It's Mr. Pants is a puzzle game that doesn't entertain because it requires far too much effort to just get into the groove of it.
-
Play MagazineMildly addictive yet limited fun. [Nov 2004, p.90]
-
Many players will quickly fall in love with the line-drawn artwork that's used in the menus and backgrounds, as well as the barnyard sound clips that are the game's sound effects, but, beyond those aspects, It's Mr. Pants is merely an average puzzler with a limited array of features.
-
Cleverest when at its most minimal, It's Mr Pants is a little too convoluted and coy a brain-tease, destined to live in the shadow of purer designs. [March 2005, p.93]
