Pocket GamesA game many will be surprised to be on this list, but it happens to be one of the best. [Summer 2004, p.15]
-
Play MagazineThis shooter is absolutey brilliant, literally offering a layer of depth rarely seen in this genre. [Aug 2004, p.61]
-
A true classic. The Souvalou moves at a somewhat glacial pace and the graphics are hopelessly flat, but besides those shortcomings it's still a phenomenal action game.
-
Even today I can play Xevious and still be entertained, and that is something considering the game just hit its twenty-year age mark.
-
The lack of power-ups and somewhat generic level design makes it pale in comparison to some other fine shooters on the NES ("Life Force" & "Guardian Legend" for example), but this was one of the first shooters on the system and it's still worth playing.
-
Its a timeless control scheme that still works well to this day, but theres not much more to do than play it until you lose all of your lives.
-
Cheat Code CentralUnfortunately it sounds like a wristwatch alarm. After an hour or so of playing Xevious, staring at your watch will seem like a refreshing change of pace.
