  1. It's not bad, but it doesn't quite have the same charm that it did when I was ten years old.
  2. It’s not the prettiest, nor the best sounding game around, far from it, but the gameplay gives it a heart and soul a lot of technically superior games can only dream of, making Excitebike relevant all these years after its original release.
  3. Pocket Games
    70
Pure, unadulterated, giggle yourself senseless fun. [Summer 2004, p.15]
  4. A solid trip down memory lane for fans of the original NES game. But is that trip worth $20? Probably not. If Excitebike had been part of a larger compilation of NES classics, it would be much more welcome.
  5. 60
Undeniably dated and simple, and the action is a bit plodding and straightforward. Fortunately, the underlying gameplay is good enough that it won't betray the fond nostalgia of older fans.
  6. Nintendo Power
    58
The track-design feature allows you to create your own racing environment. [July 2004, p.121]
  7. Its dated graphics and extremely simplistic gameplay will leave new players puzzled as to why so many people like the game.
  8. Play Magazine
    58
The custom course editor is still a highlight, and better yet, now you can even save your courses. [Aug 2004, p.61]
