n-Revolution Magazine UKA wonderfully simple game with lots of humour and decent longevity.
-
Official Nintendo Magazine UKClassy RPG gaming for a younger crowd. Buy it for your kid brother, then borrow it when no-one's looking. [Nov 2008, p.88]

What is Zubo? It's very easy to ask the question, but very difficult to give an answer, and this is one of the reasons to think that Zubo is an innovative game. It doesn't create a genre but it combines a little of them in order to develop a rhythmic, entertaining and original RPG title.
-
What is Zubo? I would describe it as a Pokémon-music game with RPG-motivation, able to entertain not only players of the younger generation. It’s a pity that there is only one slot to save the game.
-
Zubo is a good surprise, a mix of genres that actually works, in a fun and original universe.
-
This is an extremely solid RPG for beginners that only really suffers because it's something kids won't be familiar with. Had this been attached to a recognisable cartoon we'd be looking at one of the best children's games of the year.
-
It's unlikely to make it to the top of anyone's game of the year list, but it's still worth a look if you're between AAA titles.
-
With the exploration element falling short of usual standards in terms of both control and interesting things to do, the combat stands out as being a real saviour of the game, and you can even go head-to-head with a friend.
-
It's not a game that will be all that entertaining for anyone in the mid-teens or above, but it still might be worth stealing from a younger sibling to check out the unique blend of rhythm action and RPG.
-
Unique combat and cheery visuals make this kid-friendly role-playing game fun, despite some flaws.
-
Games Master UKSimplistic but amusing; one only for the targeted age group. [Christmas 2008, p.84]
-
Nintendo GamerAn often charming adventure for the CBBC crowd but too flaccid a storyline with too infuriating a score for the rest of us. [Dec 2008, p.75]
-
An outstandingly realized rhythm-based battle system housed in an average adventure, all wrapped up in gorgeous visuals.
-
AceGamezZubo is an entertaining rhythm-based game that manages to fuse several genres in an intelligent way whilst maintaining an easy to play approach. It is an ideal game to start with for youngsters who want to try a role playing game whilst at the same time there is just enough within to keep the rest of us adults playing it.
-
Zubo is an interesting gem from EA that is neither tied to a recognizable license or a sequel of an existing game.
-
While there's depth in the action there's not a lot in the single section to keep your attention for more than an hour or so in one sitting.
-
When all is said and done, Zubo is a nice effort by EA Bright Light to appeal to a younger demographic while still providing an experienced that isn't dumbed-down. This makes it perfect for an aspiring gamer. That being said, the title isn't complex enough to truly appeal to people outside of the intended audience.
-
Nintendo PowerZubo is simply too long, too meandering, and doesn't have any spirit - lifeless jokes and boring enemies turn a promising game into an elaborate chore. [Apr 2009, p.87]
-
Zubo is a turn based roleplaying game with music as it's theme. Although overly easy and child friendly it still offers a fun experience even for the seasoned gamers. As a quick and easy piece of entertainment, Zubo does deliver.
