    As a fan of the Transformers since the very first episode in 1984, I couldn't help but feel disappointment when playing Dark of the Moon – Decepticons. The license deserves so much more.

    It's a pretty bland campaign. The accompanying multiplayer mode adds a mild amount of extra interest, but it gets old pretty quickly.

    Mediocre at best. There are a few positive aspects, like the voice acting and the missions. Unfortunately there are more things in the game (like anything else) that will drive you insane.

    Decepticons, was the first version of the game I picked up, in 2011 just after it's release. I saw the game, and became excited to find outDecepticons, was the first version of the game I picked up, in 2011 just after it's release. I saw the game, and became excited to find out what the plot was going to be. I knew that Dark of the Moon console was set before the film, so I guessed this was the same.

    I broke into the game, and immediately found the graphics were extremely good. More detail had been put into the character design and the vehicle form was very realistic compared to the other two. The voice acting was also very good, with awesome script!

    Onto the gameplay. You have a choice of four characters to become; Soundwave, Megatron, Crowbar, and Lockdown. I am surprised at the choice of playing as one of the Dreads. I can also relate Lockdown in this game to Lockdown in Age of Extinction, who fights Optimus in an area with many cranes in game and later, in the film.

    There are 12 different levels, in Siberia, Detroit, and on an abandoned Sector 7 facility island. The Autobots are quite generic and come in three different sizes. They all transform into what appears to be law enforcement vehicles, but none ever transform.

    You have the choice of using a light machine/minigun type weapon, and a heavy missile weapon, but this is generic. There is also the choice to melee: Megatron with flail, Crowbar with claws on hands, Lockdown with hook and Soundwave with sonic disks. All three have unique vehicle forms, Megatron for some reason is a tank and never changes to the MACK truck in-game. Some of the transformations seemed strange to me.

    In each level you can pick up, something known as upgrade slots which allow you to upgrade armor/weapon.

    Multiplayer is local and has games for 2 and 4 players. There are no BOTs, so this eliminates chance of out-of-campaign play. You can also play as characters from opposite version in multiplayer.

    The disappointing aspects of the game: compared to the console version, big parts of the storyline were missed out. The fights and damage does not seem realistic or tense. The weapons are generic. There is no play for Shockwave or Starscream, although character models appear in game.

    Good aspects: This still is a lot better than Revenge of the Fallen DS. The soundtrack for this game is tense and I would buy if it were available in MP3 format. Good graphics.    … Expand
