In spite of a few issues with combat, levels that may be just a little too linear, and a playtime that runs on the short side, The Tale of Despereaux stands out as an above average movie game.
-
Aside from going back and collecting more notes, there’s essentially no replay value here at all. While there’s no doubt that Despereaux will make a great present or stocking stuffer, if you’re considering it for yourself, you would be advised to rent it.
-
Overall, The Tale of Despereaux for the DS is perfect game for those younger and somewhat experienced gamers who loved the movie and own a DS.
-
Tales of Despereaux is a surprisingly fun title that takes the basis of what makes these types of game fun and runs with it.
-
The handheld's two-dimensional action is charming and well designed.
