Presentational hiccups aside, such as the graphics that are blocky by even the DS’ standards and the blasted screen which keeps popping up to unnecessarily show you day turning to night and vice versa, this makes a nice alternative to the compelling but flawed Lost In Blue / Stranded Kids games which have come before to handheld formats.
-
Nintendo GamerAs playable as the Wii version. But without some of the Wii game's key features, it feels a bit flat. [Christmas 2007, p.50]
-
The game is not graphically very impressive, but the environments are well done. It's a nice mix of a Sim game and an adventure game, even if it is a little slow.
-
A Sims title in name alone. Sure, you can decorate and dress up your character in various clothes and make some limited customization, but at its core, this is an adventure title.
-
The Sims gets a survival game. A neat package of exploration and item-finding, but one that does get a bit tedious for all but the keenest of collectors.
-
The Sims 2: Castaway doesn't accomplish anything particularly compelling in the long term (and sadly, it's got very few ways to torture your Sim when you inevitably tire of the mundane), but what is there is solid, and it's a decent way to fill any lingering gaps in your DS schedule (the younger you are, the better).
-
AceGamezI can't see many people playing this again after the initial play-through either, unless they really enjoy getting every last piece of clothing and food.
