    Spider-Man: Battle for New York boasts fun 2D gameplay mixed with an impressive 3D presentation. The game’s biggest fault is that it hasn’t made any significant strides since last year, but it remains one of the most fun 2D action games on the Nintendo DS.

    At the end of the day, Battle for New York isn’t worth the cash if you’ve already played one of the other DS games, and since it looks like they’ll be using the same engine in the future, you might as well hold out if you haven’t experienced any of the previous titles. Sorry, Spidey.

    One of the most fun you will have playing a 2d side-scroller this game has the classic spider-man/green goblin rivalry.     Spider-Man Battle for NY is a worthy addition to your DS library if you like action games, are a comic book fan, or just plain Spidey fan. TheSpider-Man Battle for NY is a worthy addition to your DS library if you like action games, are a comic book fan, or just plain Spidey fan. The fact that its exculsive to the DS and GBA is a plus too. If you have played the DS version of Ultimate Spider-Man then you pretty much know exactly what type of game your getting in Battle for NY. It runs on the same engine as Ultimate Spidey and thats certainly not a bad thing. In Battle for NY you get to play with both Spidey and Green Goblin in a sort of alternate re-telling of when Norman first becomes the Goblin and wants to destroy Spider-Man while at the same time hes trying to take over NY. The presentation is really good, with the story told through great cut scenes that look just like the comic, and very surprisingly, the game has TONS of voiceover that moves the story along at a good pace and keeps the player interested. Unfortunately, unlike Ultimate Spidey you dont control Goblins actions and attacks with the stylus ( that was very cool when you did it with Venom), you just control him the same as Spidey (with the d-pad). Now, is Battle for NY as good as Ultimate Spider-Man? No, it isnt, but then again this wasnt developed by Vicarious Visions, Torus Games developed Battle for NY, and they certainly made a good follow-up to Ultimate Spider-Man. Bottom line, if you played and enjoyed Ultimate Spider-Man then there really isnt any reason you wouldnt like Battle for NY.… Expand
