  1. I will admit I was frustrated a few times when I failed to complete some of the challenges or kept getting my butt kicked in some of the Championships but, I loved it.
  2. Race Driver: Create & Race is an extremely well assembled racer which falls short of excellence thanks to its handling style falling squarely between two stools, and the niggles relating to the opponent AI and graphical in-game presentation.

It wins with the track editor but loses in other areas. Hit and miss basically. [Nov 2007, p.69]

Crashing is probably something you should get used to before jumping into Create & Race, though, which brings us to the primary problem with putting a simulation racing game on a handheld like the DS.

It’s the most complete racing game on the DS but it’s not the most fun...There’s a lot of content but not without the sacrifice of the gameplay and of the visuals. [Dec 2007]

The broken controls and AI on this game led to tears only one time throughout my playthrough, not metaphorically. This game is beyondThe broken controls and AI on this game led to tears only one time throughout my playthrough, not metaphorically. This game is beyond incomprehensive and has no sense of self and the handling is 100% nonexistent. These are supposed to be racing vehicles but they're unable to make sharp turns, and the tracks they're mostly assigned to contain said turns, so there's no preparation made there. Essentially, this game will only lead to distressed reactions that seem exaggerated to outsiders. Full Review »

These are supposed to be race cars, not stock, right off the lot regular vehicles. You don't buy plain cars for cheap and then upgrade them with racing parts in this game... So, you'd expect them to handle as though they have proper racing-grade tires, brakes and suspensions. But they don't. You can't honestly call it an arcade racer (like NFS etc.), nor can you call it a sim (Gran Turismo etc.). It's just a mess. Games like this are the most bitterly disappointing because they get so much right, and you can tell that a significant amount of effort was put into their development. How then can they miss such an obvious defect? If you loathe silly kid cart racers as I do (say you're 16 or older and have some real-world driving experience), you're still out of luck on the DS I'm afraid. It's a terrible shame how close this one came. Easily could've been a 9 or better. Full Review »

The track editor is top-notch, and the touch makes it even better. The races are realistic, and my only two complaints are: 1. It is really really easy to crash if u r not careful. 2. I have to share this with my friends on the bus so I only get to play every third race. Well, at least I have the "track of nightmares" ( It is so curvy at some points that it is almost impossible to go through it without hitting the wall unless u r going about 20 mph. Full Review »
