Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs

Pokémon Ranger: Tracks of Light is an excellent alternative to the main series, and will probably make up for the wait until Black & White arrives. Pretty, well paced, Tracks of Light is a nice adventure, perfect for children, far from the cheap spin-off.

All in all, Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs is an enjoyable game set in a fun and colourful universe!

Another fun way to catch 'em all. With some gameplay changes this is a fine way to spend your time before Black and White are released.

This Pokémon Ranger follows the path of previous iterations, improving some details and adding up elements which enhance player experience.

It appeals to your kids, and will probably be quite a bit of fun for them. They'll get to see their favorite Pokemon, and be able to run around in an enjoyable world for a bit. However, as an adult, you probably won't have much fun beyond seeing your kids enjoy their time with it.

It's got the plot of Pokemon, but the battle system needs bolstering to achieve greatness.

The third installment in the Pokémon Ranger saga does not appear as the revolution we hoped.

Another Pokémon game and probably a new commercial success, with an interesting storyline, but limited by an undeveloped gameplay.

Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs is not a bad game which brings along some neat features, still it's way too similar to the prequels, especially Shadows of Almia, both visually and gameplay wise. This new installment is recommended to anyone who never played Pokémon Ranger before and, of course, to any Pokémon fan who might want to add some rare monster to his own collection.

Guardian Signs is not a deep game at all. The core gameplay mechanics are shallow, the story is largely forgettable, and the difficulty level leaves much to be desired.

If you're a child or are buying for your kid, they should enjoy the experience (though they will be expected to do a lot of reading). However, if you're an older Pokémon fan such as myself, don't expect an evolved gameplay format from what was seen in the original two Ranger games.

All in all, it's a decent game it just doesn't offer anything spectacular.

But, hey. It's cutesy, its cuddly, and for the young or true blue Pokémon fanatics it won't be a regrettable purchase.

If you can't wait to get your hands on the next installment of the gotta-catch-'em-all franchise, Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs might just be the right kind of diversion, though you might want to get that wrist brace handy for drawing circles on the touchscreen.
