As an avid Guilty Gear fan, this game was the single most disappointing thing I have ever played. Even ignoring the fact that it clearly can't play like a regular GG game due to the 4-player and multi-tiered stages, it doesn't even play well as a party brawler. Heck, Guilty Gear Advance was a much more faithful adaptation of the series than this. This game is a **** smash knock off masquerading as a guilty gear game.
Disuke must wake up in a cold sweat every night knowing someone did this to his child. It's an insult to everything guilty gear and not even fun for ironies sake.

When not playing single-player or against friends, spend some time with one of seven mini-games; okay, so they're not all that fun, but playing it will unlock pieces for building your own custom Robo Ky, which is. [May 2006, p.61]

Of course, there are a number of much better multiplayer titles on the DS, but it's something. [May 2006, p.110]

It's too bad that Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers had to sacrifice some of its progenitors strongest features to enact new and engaging gameplay changes because the new enhancements for Dust Strikers really do add something new to the franchise, however; judging the entire game as a whole leaves it wanting.
