a great handheld racing game. Compared to Race Driver, it's more like an expansion pack. It's very similar, although more refined. But if you haven't played the original, this is the one to get.

Grid offers a great balance of arcade and simulation racing with enough extras to keep you entertained for hours.

An impressive effort that has a lot going for it, and it’s a slight improvement over last year’s already impressive Race Driver: Create and Race experience. GRID is best played on the console, but the DS game offers up its own unique take on the core racing design.

It's packed full of features and is well worth a look for anyone wanting some racing thrills while out and about.

With great graphics and stellar gameplay, GRID offers DS owners a fantastic console experience on the go. It’s more of the same, but with more vehicles, tracks and customisation options GRID will keep all who play it race-happy.

GRID is difficult at first, and the lack of a speedy frame rate may throw you off. Otherwise, there's nothing to hold you back from shifting into high gear. Buy it, hit the gas and race for the finish line.

It's certainly true that apart from the graphical polish, this is essentially the same in terms of core gameplay, albeit structured slightly differently. But with new courses, new cars and the freedom to create your own content, it's hard to imagine too many DS-owning race fans being put off by such a piffling complaint though.

Racing games on the DS have so far definitely not been the best of breed, which is exactly why we're so surprised over just how fun Race Driver: GRD for the DS is. Sure, graphics-wise is won't blow your mind but the presentation definitely does it's job well and driving is just pure fun. If you've been longing for the chance to burn rubber in a gratifying way on the DS, this is it.

This Nintendo DS version isn't anywhere near the quality (or originality) of the console versions, but if you can accept it as a good racing game and not another version of GRID, you'll enjoy it very much.

Being a kind of update for Race Driver: Create & Race, Race Driver: Grid it’s not the best investment for those who already own the first one. But if you don’t have it, and if you are looking for a “serious” racing game for the DS, this is the one to get. [Sept 2008]

The DS version of GRID seems to be more than a simple cash-in. It's unfortunate that the game suffers from technical difficulties. There’s a lack of speed, no damage physics and the camera viewpoints could cause the player some problems. On the good side, you can design your own circuits, you can race online and there’s a solid career mode. The sheer fun, catapults this game above average.

GRID is absolutely your best bet if you’ve got a craving for racing on your DS (sans turtle shells and banana peels), and it’ll keep you busy for quite some time.
