Nintendo GamerToo similar to the first game, including the not-that-good platforming. [Winter 2009, p.67]
-
With a rather lovely soundtrack in addition to everything else, The Next Chapter may not be as ambitious as 5th Cell's other game, Scribblenauts, but it is a nice little platformer that may get your artistic juices flowing. Just don't go expecting anything too deep and you may be pleasantly surprised.
-
Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter is a successful sequel to the original game.
-
While no single portion of the game is “best in class”, the sum of the parts is respectable.
-
Sticking close to a tried and tested formula, The Next Chapter refines what the first Drawn to Life brought to the DS, yet doesn’t solve the all-too basic platforming issue, only makes it more diverse.
-
Drawn to Life isn’t broken, but its ho-hum parts meant that it was incredibly rare for me to say I was having fun with a given part of the title, and that’s kind of a big part of why we play games.
-
Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter isn't an awful game by any stretch, but it barely manages to get past that average mark. If it weren't for the whole hero creation aspect, there'd hardly be a game here worth mentioning, so I wish the core platforming stuff were a little more interesting than it is.
-
Behind all the brush strokes and ink lines lies a rather ho-hum experience.
-
Drawn To Life: The Next Chapter will appeal to fans of the first game, as well as kids who love building things.
-
The drawings you create make the game's name ring true and brings life to the game that is mostly a story. The levels are over in the blink of an eye and feel like stop gaps for telling the story.
-
As a whole it is a good package but one that will fail to appeal to older gamers.
-
Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter is a game with potential; a lot of potential. Unfortunately in many respects the designers seem to have been sorely lacking in the strength of their own convictions.
