  1. Much like Chicken Little before it, Ace in Action features rather large, surprisingly well-animated boss monsters, and just like Chicken Little before it, these bosses can be a downright bear with which to deal. Thankfully, in a game such as this, one is prepared for such difficulty, instead of it blindsiding you like in the earlier title.
  2. For such a short game, a Little goes a long way as far as we’re concerned.

It may be chock full of farm animals in space but Ace in Action deserves a spot alongside the DS's top shooters. [Jan. 2007, p.84]
  4. A great looking game with some intense and satisfying action. Despite some serious shortcomings with audio and gameplay, this game is an enjoyable title that any action fan can enjoy.
  5. This is wasted potential for a surprise hit. Great graphics and classic fast-paced action would be absolutely awesome if it wasn’t so darn repetitive.

The levels with Ace feature some of the most exciting combat available on the Nintendo DS. Unfortunately, that's only about half the game and the other modes are either lacking in comparison (Runt) or just lacking altogether (Abby)
  7. Three types of laser-blasting fun: on foot, in a tank, and in a spaceship. The first two are pretty close in controls and level layout. They differ in speed and weapon type, but not much else. The last one – the spaceship – is a slow clone of the top-down, side-scrolling space shooter genre. It’s only fun you have something to blast.
  8. Overreaching game/ Flies past a goal it can't see/ Out of bounds, chicken!

The blasting can get a bit monotonous, especially when you just want to move forward. [Dec. 2006, p.110]
  10. A surprisingly competent and occasionally very entertaining little game.
  11. A lame attempt at beating as much money from the Chicken Little franchise corpse as possible. While elements of the campaign are fun and challenging, they are offset by the monotonous levels and boring hold-the-shoot-button gameplay.
  12. Ace in Action fails to be fun, a tragedy considering how attractive it looks. The game is nothing more than a trite shooter attempting to cash in on the Chicken Little franchise, with a control scheme is just too bothersome for this to be a recommended purchase to anyone.

Ace in Action is a mindless shooter that’s too short, too easy, and a poor fit with the source material.
