    Slavery is a black and white topic that punishes everyone taking part in it, from the slaves being beaten to their masters who live in ignorance with mens rea. Slave owners were constantly looking for reasons for slavery and proof that africans were less than human, and as slavery was close to being abolished slave owners were looking for reasons more than ever. One of these reasons was found in Herman Melville’s novella, Benito Cereno, which was used as an argument against slavery at the same time. The story was written in 1855 close to a decade before the abolition of slavery and at a point in time when Northern states and Southern states were divided heavily on this subject. Depending on which characters and actions you pay attention to you can see the story as pro- or anti- slavery. For example the character of Babo can be seen as a savage or a highly intelligent person depending on what you pay attention to and what you don’t. Ultimately people saw what they wanted to and interpreted as such.

    Someone who see’s Benito Cereno as pro-slavery will focus more on Babo killing his master and using his skeleton as a warning to the other sailors. Readers see him as a savage for killing someone who kidnapped him and treated him as animal, and they ignore the fact that at the end of the novella Babo’s head is put on a spike to serve as a warning to other slaves thinking about rebelling. Readers who see this story as an argument against slavery take the whole story into account; Babo killing another human is bad but not savage, and Babo putting his victim on display as a warning is savage, however we do the same to Babo. We kill him and put his head on display. If you are going to call Africans savages because one slave put his victim on display then we are just as savage, if not more, because a whole group of people decided that killing someone and putting them on display was the right thing to do.

    Another reason readers can interpret this story as pro-slavery is because the ex-slaves seem to be the villains in this story. They overthrow a ship, kill sailors in their sleep, and treat the remaining sailors like animals, however they are easily overthrown by Delano and his crew due to their lack of intelligence. For an anti-slavery reader the slaves are fighting for freedom and they just want to get somewhere safe where they can live normal live. And as for intelligence Babo is able to control Benito and fool Delano, it’s only luck that Benito survives his jump into Delano’s boat without Babo killing him. If blacks were truly inferior to whites they wouldn’t have been able fool Delano or even take over the San Dominick. We are equal, the Africans won once and the Europeans won once. If Melville meant for this story to be pro-slavery he would have made the slaves malicious and more animalistic as well as unintelligent. Instead the slaves are intelligent people in search of freedom and peace. They don’t kill the sailors because the want to, they kill them because it is necessary to in order to have freedom.

    The third reason that people interpreted this story in two contrasting ways is because people don’t like to be proven wrong, and ultimately as soon as someone finds one detail that supports their point of view they forget about all other details that support the opposite of what the believe. For example a pro-slavery reader will place less importance on the resolution of the story because the bulk of the anti-slavery message is located in the end of the novella. They might look at the mutiny but not the reason for the mutiny, or look at Benito Cereno as an innocent victim and forget that he transported slaves for a living. If Melville wanted Cereno to be innocent he could have had him as a passenger on the ship instead of someone who profits off the sale of people.

    Melville’s novella Benito Cereno and John Ford’s film The Searchers have many similarities in the ways they show racism, neither of them outright call out racism as bad but instead it’s the subtext that says this. They both show that both sides are equal, and despite the fact that one side is a clear victor neither side is superior. Herman Melville was anti-slavery, he was able to show a role reversal of slavery that caused some people to question it’s place in the world. It is people like Melville that helped the abolitionist movement progress as fast as it did. With stories to show the evils of slavery many Northerners may have stayed “neutral” to slavery (which was essentially supporting it). The abolitionist movement was dependet on white citizens to help free slaves and without people deciding to take action we would be living with an outdated institution.    … Expand

    This game is simply genre defining. It takes the fleshed-out, developed characters from the award winning anime; combines them with a heart wrenching, unpredictable plot that will have you crying tears of happiness from start to end and has some of the best gameplay mechanics ever seen in the Nintendo DS's generation. To put it simply; a masterpiece of visual entertainment.

The gameplay is fresh and smooth and the graphics are top notch quality: if you want a comparison, compare this game to GTA V with ultra high settings. Man has gone to the moon and climbed to top of the highest peak, but nothing can compare to glory of mankind that is Cory in the House for the Nintendo DS. The story, it made me question my life and moral ethics as a person. The gameplay, so immersive I felt as though I were actually in the house. The graphics, toCory in the House is not just a game.     This game is a piece of art; good graphics, great storyline, and enticing online gameplay. If I could, I would rate this perfect game over a 10, 10 does not do it justice.

Controls smooth as a pelican caught in the gulf oil spill. Realistic and heart pounding action that would put the Mad Max movies to shame. Romance so intense and beautiful that it makes Fifty Shades ofIn a word? Art. Though "Art" can not begin to describe it. Among the most profound storytelling ever put to game. I heard about this game at Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 and the game play looked bloody amazing so i went to my local Big W to pick this game up, I noticed my local shopping centers car park was full and as i walked inside there was a massive line stretching from big w to theCory in the house has always been one of the best animes ever, oh wait sorry it is the best anime ever. I heard about this game at Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 and the game play looked bloody amazing so i went to my local Big W to pick this game up, I noticed my local shopping centers car park was full and as i walked inside there was a massive line stretching from big w to the entry of the shopping center. The line was roughly around 300m long which is massive since i live in a remote Australian outback town with a population of 67. I noticed that 50% had sleeping bags and had slept there for the past 2 weeks. You're probably wondering why there was a massive line in front of my local department store, well it was the release day for Cory in the House ds game. This game had so much pre-release hype to it and today all the fans of Cory in the House tv show would finally get their hands on the game. So i joined the end of the line and and 39 hours later i received my copy, i very carefully brought it to my car and put the seat belt on it. When i finally got home i opened with goosebumps and sweaty hands because of the anticipation and hype i have had for this game. As soon as the title screen appeared i was simply amazed, this game was astonishing. It was so much better than everyone thought it would be, and everyone knew it would be on of the best games ever, but to say this was one of the best games ever doesn't show respect to this game, this game gives ocarina of time a run for its money. The story line is beyond amazing, it has so much depth to it. The visuals were just phenomenal,i honestly had no idea the ds could run games with such good graphics. The controls are just wow, i cant say anymore, they just came so natural to me. This is more than a game, this is art. Homo Sapiens may have made and discovered some of the most scientifically astonishing things like Darwin's theory of evolution, the big bang theory, string theory, Pyramids of Giza, gravity, penicillin, periodic table and the large Hadron Collider but Cory in the House ds game is the pinnacle of human inventions and discoveries. I hope human culture never forgets this game and if extra terrestrial life ever visits us, I hope we share the masterpiece that Cory in the House ds game is.     Ever since this game came out in 2008, i played it for 4 hours a day. It is truly perfect. The trolls that gave this game a negative rating deserve to die. It is art and deserves 11/10. The game has stunning HD graphics that are to die for. The game features action, romance and drama. Only a game a fool would pass up.

    The story, the graphics at least for the DS PS: please Nintendo we need a 3DS remake, the Adrenalin inducing gameplay and the very reactive controls are all 10/10 impressive. I've played it for 312 hours since a year ago and I simply can't recommend this video game enough especially for hardcore fans of the anime :)

    it was 3 afternoon and i was home playing vidya on my PC as usually, my 'cory in the house' poster was situated on the wall which attracts the most attention from where the door opens, so i can proudly    i've tried this game couple of days ago and i have to say that i couldn't stop myself playing. here is a short story describing what i had to go trough to get to play this awesome game:

    it was 3 afternoon and i was home playing vidya on my PC as usually, my 'cory in the house' poster was situated on the wall which attracts the most attention from where the door opens, so i can proudly display to everyone what big of a fan i was.
    in a four-hour long session of quake, nothing special. my eyebrows and eyelids start to hurt due to how hard i was concentrating on the game. i realised that i was indeed giving all i had when i learned that i was concentrated to the point where i was involuntarily frowning.
    suddenly, a notification from steam pops on the screen; i was disconnected from the server. apparently my internet connection went down for some reason. i was about to re-launch steam in offline mode so i can look trough my library and find a game that can be played while not connected to the internet but not before checking what was the reason of my internet connection going down, when the power went off.
    i was mad, i really was in the mood for some vidya. that entire day i hesitated to play games until around twenty-five minutes before the internet and my power went off. i only had time to play 15 minutes of quake out of all the four hours.
    since power going out also means the wifi, i had to activate the mobile data on my phone and do something that would pass the time.
    i couldn't watch videos on youtube, that would eat trough all my internet available on my phone that month, so i decided to screw around on the internet. sooner or later i found out that there was a legitimate cory in the house game for the DS. i was happy, i grabbed my DS and looked at it, then rushed to tell my mum that we're going out to buy a copy of this game.
    it was a cold summer, so i got my scarf, beanie and winter boots because there was raining a lot and i didn't want water to disturb me.
    i hopped in my mum's car with the DS in my pocket. the next part is unnecessary so i will skip to when i bought it.
    after purchasing the cartridge, i've immediately placed it inside my DS and played the game while sitting in the back seat of the car.
    when i arrived home the first thing i did was rush into my room fully clothed with my boots on. my mother got a tad bit angry at me for ruining the carpet with mud, so she grounded me and told me to hand my DS and the new game i got it with to her, but i didn't listen.
    i jumped out of the house on my window and ran. i could hear my mum's screams at me telling to get back and she will give me permission to keep playing. i didn't listen and continued to run. i don't know if now it was when she went and called the police, but for all i know it could've been right now on the spot since i've seen her getting upstairs, you'd think she would go out and tell a neighbour to chase me.
    i ran all the way to the city's junk yard. i hid behind some large mass of scrap metal and immediately start playing cory in the house.
    i don't know the hour exactly, but it was around 16:10 (4:10) when i started to run away. by the time i got tired, the sun was down by some time. in this period of summer, it usually starts going dark at around 20:30 (8:30), so it had to be atleast 9:00.
    i was cold and hungry and started to regret the decision i made, so i went home and asked my mother to forgive me. when i saw her reaction, she wasn't that mad at all, only a bit stressed. she told me that she was happy to see me but i was in trouble because she, in fact, did call the cops and told them to search for me.
    i guess the junk yard was a good spot to hide.
    from that day to now, i religiously play cory in the house everyday, at least three hours a day. it never gets boring :^)    … Expand

    From the fun, replayable mini-games to the immersive storyline this game has taken control of my life.
    The game stays true to its roots by staying true to the lore of the original series, yet it also provides extra lore for me and other die-hard fans to throw ourselves onto.
    I tried, I honestly tried nitpicking a single flaw in this game but failed to. As others have said this is the pinnacle of the gaming industry and an example other gaming companies should follow.    … Expand

    This has to be the greatest game on the DS, so polished and well refined, it's a shame it didn't get the recognition it deserved back in 2008.     I went into cory in the house feeling as if it was another cash in on one of the most beloved animes around the world. Turns out this game has a rich story, great visuals and mindblowing gameplay. I cannot recommend this game enough. I think cory in the house should be part of everyone's ds game collection. 10/10

This game captured everything that the anime was, and turned it into a game that sat in everyone's hearts. The graphics are cutting-edge, back when it first launched in 1955, and even today, bringing games such as Fall Out 4 to their knees.

The graphics are appealing, the gameplay is revolutionarily awesome, the controls feel like controls, there are little to no glitches, the music is awesome, the characters are the best, truly the best game based off an anime. Also, the story is literally the best I've seen in a long time. Completely 100% recommend.

    One of the most innovative games that I have ever played in the last year. Endless hours can be spent playing through the gorgeous atmosphere sculpted by the Golden gods themselves. My life was feeling a bit void of purpose and feeling depressed, but this game really put me on the right path, and I owe my new found happiness to this game.

    The game stars Cory Baxter, a boy willing to fight things like slavery, corruption and racism, the opening level has you work with your sister and dad, in a plot to assassinate President Hoo-Flung-Dung. Unfortunately, Cory misses his shot and loses his dad kick-starting the story of this game.
    The gameplay is fantastic, consisting of third person shooting and hand to hand combat, in the game you can explore all of Wachingchong D.C. the amount of content in this world topples games like fallout and GTA.

    Chapter 1:
    The story begins with you meeting a young boy named Cory with a dark, traumatic backstory. He was in the house and all of the sudden the ground shook and the ogres commanded by Shrek led an attack known as the shrekoning. The shrekoning is an advanced attack that opens up a great chasm in the ground where ogres come up from the depths of hell and capture Cory's family. These ogres target Cory because he built his house on the remains of Shrek's swamp. Cory was unable to help his family and seeks revenge on all of the ogres and save his family. There is only one big problem standing in Cory's way and that is being all alone. Because of this, Cory has no chance to stand up to Shrek and his minions so Cory has to find someone to help him defeat Shrek, the evil ogre king.
    Chapter 2:
    As Cory goes on a quest to become stronger he meets a mysterious old man who gives Cory some pizza crust with the words find the sauce carved into it. Before Cory could ask the old man any questions he disappeared and was no where to be found. Cory knew he had to find the sauce if he wanted to know more about the mysterious old man and what he meant so Cory travel across the universe, through the skies and stars and eventually found a planet called "XAUCE". Cory knew he was looking in the right place and decided to put some of the sauce from the planet on the crust the old man gave him and then the pizza had an ominous glow and a voice whispered in his eared, "find the cheese within..." Cory then spit on the pizza and pepperoni's started falling from the sky. Cory without hesitation took a slow but wide bite out of the pizza and then felt as if he could hear the voices of thousands of Corys from alternate worlds calling to him giving him strength. Cory could feel power running through his veins just like the effects of the steroids he took five days ago. Cory's eyes turned red and he was filled with anger. "Ogre King, I'm coming for you." he said as he rode on the pizza back across the universe to his house.
    Chapter 3:
    It was time to finally defeat Shrek, the king of ogres and take back his house and save his family from the horrors they endured. Cory blasted open the door with a fierce look in his eyes. He slaughter the ogres one by one and showed no mercy until he found the door that led to the Ogre King. He pushed open the door to find the mysterious old man who then ran up to Cory at full speed and punched him in the stomach with all his might. Cory shocked gasping for air took another look at the old man and he couldn't believe his eyes. It was Wario/Stank who was wearing a disguise the whole time. Cory's eyes started fading...Was this the end of Cory?...Blacked out on the floored a flame burst out of his chest! "WAKE UP CORY!" "YOU CAN'T LET THIS GUY WIN." "WE WILL LEND YOU OUR SUPPORT!" Cory opened his eyes and then saw thousand of Corys with their hands out giving him even more strength and lifting him back on his feet. Cory's eyes were burning red until he decided to close them clam down and opened them back up. "I won't use anger and rage because... I AM CORY OF THE HOUSE!" A ray of white light surrounded Cory and he put is hand out and formed a speared of light with it. "Out of my way Wario/Stank or die..." Cory said with an intimidating look on his face. Wario/Stank began to move back and let him pass. As he got closer to the door he slashed Wario/Stank three times, in his neck, stomach, and legs. Wario/Stank began gasping for air shocked and the last thing he saw was Cory spit spit on him.
    Final Chapter:
    Cory finally made to Shrek's room and saw him laughing as he through the lifeless bodies Cory's family members around like old trash. Cory screamed! He fell to his knees shocked more than he's ever been before and couldn't move. " I couldn't save them" he said over and over to himself. "This is all my fault." he said as tears rained down from his eyes. "I'll kill you!" he screamed. Shrek look at him and laughed and said "You don't get do you." Cory then blindly charged at him and through many punches but it wasn't enough. Shrek looked at him and said, "you grown stronger since the last time we met" "What do you mean?" Cory said surprised. Cory thought he never saw Shrek until today but Shrek remembers him from somewhere. Shrek slowly walked up to Cory with a smirk on his face. Cory felt powerless like he couldn't move a muscle. Shrek then whispered in his ear, "I am your father"    … Expand

But when I turned on my DS with Cory in the House, I knew that they had done it again. The only way any a better game could exist is if there was a sequel produced by Post Malone. Just imagine, the immersive, thrilling game quality CitH is known for, but with the silky smooth tones of the Post Master himself caressing my eardrums.

    This game makes my pee pee hurt, but in a good way.
    Cory in the house is my favourite anime and i pooped myself when i heard they made a game.
    The 4k graphics and full voice acting were a first for any game and shocked me back in '08 when this piece of heaven finally was bestowed upon us.     cory in the house for the nintendo ds is not a good game.....it is the BEST game straight up cory in the house for the nintendo ds is the pinnacle of an anime to a videogame and i HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest buying it there will never be a video better then this one

    What can I say, Cory in the house for ds is an emotional rollercoaster. If you are born empty, this is exactly what you need to fill yourself. If I wanted to die, this game would fill me up with confidence to strive on in life. A masterpiece that makes you feel empty, but complete as a person.

    I grew up playing games like mario, zelda and kirby i thought those game where master pieces until i played this game, the music was great, the story was heartbreaking for a kids game and the gameplay was out of this world, it's so sad that companies only think about money now, my friend, you will not see games like this anymore.

    The game has some of the clunkiest controls we've seen, the presentation is insultingly stupid, the minigames are hardly games at all, and on top of everything it's really short.
