    So Dairojo! Samurai Defenders scores on style, depth, fun and features -- it just falls a bit short in presentation and initial understandability.

    It looks good, plays well and is an absolutely fun time to be had on the DSi.

    The game would benefit immensely from a playable tutorial and adjustable difficulty settings. Dairojo! Samurai Defenders is daunting, to put it mildly, but if you're up for a lesson in tough-as-nails tower defense, then get your katana ready.

    The gameplay is simple enough to understand and it works rather well for what it does. I just wish there was some sort of tutorial level or maybe an introduction story mode that eased you into the gameplay rather than pushing you headfirst into the fray.

    There is nothing inherently challenging about the mechanics of Samurai Defenders, because it is ultimately the same tower defense game we have all played before.
