Mar 18, 2021After being a little bit disappointed by DoS, this one made quite the shot for me. Nice dual mechanics which you can choose to use or not most of the time, nice graphics, fantastic musics. it may be a bit subjective but i find it to be more action-oriented than DoS, and that goes well.

JakeS.Jan 2, 2007Fantastic! I got bored with DoS, but I can't stop playing PoR. The dual characters are fantastic. Controls excellent. Story not invasive. Big, and well-done. Gameplay is fun.

MarkV.Mar 21, 2007FANTASTIC! Despite being not quite as good as DoS, this is still one of the best games for the DS. If you own a DS and like 2D adventures or action RPGs, you MUST buy this game. Thank me later.

Jun 15, 2023Castlevania Portrait of Ruin is one of my favorite Castlevania games. The two character system adds another layer to the combat, there's a wealth of awesome subweapons and spells to try out, the portraits allow for more variety in the locations you'll visit, and the soundtrack is very memorable. It's an excellent game and a must have for the DS.

Jun 4, 2023Adding a second selectable character into the spooky Metroid-style mix, this is a fun arcade adventure and probably the best instalment of the Castlevania series.

Nintendo PowerPortrait of Ruin provides a whole lot more of a very good thing, and Castlevania fans won't be disappointed with the results. [Jan. 2007, p.114]

A game that not only reaffirms the series' greatness, but is easily once of the best handheld games released this year.
