I can honestly say that Burnout Legends is the best "real" racing game that I’ve played on the DS.

Even with the Crash Mode being a let down, Burnout Legends is easily one of the best racers on the Nintendo DS. The fact that Criterion has put all the little nuances of the Burnout series in one little DS cart is amazing.

The developers didn’t develop around the limitations of the Nintendo DS. Part of this is unavoidable since I’m not sure that the Nintendo DS can handle better crashes.

The racing is pathetically underwhelming, the crashes are so painfully halfhearted that they might as well not even exist, and a wide variety of graphical glitches and collision problems turn the whole thing into a serious mess.

The only positive that can be said about this game: at least it runs at 60 frames per second. We’ve played some bad racing games, but Burnout Legends takes the cake. Really.

A terrible game. It's in 3D, and the Burnout tracks are scaled down well, but nothing else about the game is worth sitting through. It's slow, boring, and poorly put together, three things that the Burnout series is definitely not known for.

Given that the DS hardware is woefully underutilized, Burnout Legends is simply a shoddy game. The essential ingredients are here, but there are flash games that have had more quality work put into them.

Saying that the DS version of Burnout Legends is bad is quite generous. Abomination is a much more fitting word.

Then we come to the control, which is also shot up quite horrendously. The vehicular turning is pretty lofty at best, where you have to maintain an incredible sense of steering. This, combined with the so-called tactics for scoring takedowns on opponent vehicles, just leads to remarkably bad frustration.

So let's see - we've got a poor driving engine, broken crash mechanics, stripped down modes (due to a lack of cars), bugs and some below average audio. Sound like a winner? No. If you want to see a quality portable racer, check this title out on the PSP.

When the entire gameplay composition and technical makeup are so miserably flawed the abundance of game modes, cars and tracks comes off as completely useless. Visual Impact should be ashamed for tampering with and tarnishing such a proud and illustrious franchise with this filth.

Jul 1, 2020Graphically, it is quite fluid and nice, but the motion is slow and the collisions are terrible. It's unplayable rubbish, build with no care at all.
