The gameplay features a perfect balance of complexity where newcomers are easily introduced to new concepts that boggle their mind before soon becoming second-nature, then scaling into more elaborate mechanics that challenge the strategic potential of even longtime fans of Twilight Imperium. It's the classic tale of "easy to learn, difficult to master". Whilst games such as Super Mario Odyssey offer platforming perfection which lets the player flourish in a menagerie of wondrous movement options, and other selections similar to Spiderman or Persona 5 on the PS4 offer deeply enriching stories that can drive players to experience unparalleled emotional connection to its characters, nothing can even match up to the paragon of quality which is Bakugan Battle Brawlers. The symbolism woven into the act of launching the spherical beasts onto the field of play, who magnetically stick to cards laid out to humor the players with increasing risks and danger, is breathtaking beyond measure. The intricacy and strategy in choosing the right team of Bakugan to enter into battle with is one that deserves a price in of itself. The characters themselves are as deep as any real person you'd find off the street, with inner conflicts and struggles that compliment the stakes within the plot in ways that are truly gripping. I can still feel my heart racing from the scene where Shun, master of ventus-class bakugan, exhibits a coldness to the rest of his allies in an attempt to hide his inner complexities that may leave him vulnerable to those who remain too close for comfort.

Overall, Bakugan Battle Brawlers is a riveting game with unparalleled game-play and tactical potential that will leave any player scrambling for more. I can see the competitive scene for this product spanning decades in the future. This game is a MUST BUY.

At the time, I had very little interest in Bakugan, though I thought I had a good idea of what it was. Regardless, I gave the game a shot, and what I found was extremely surprising to me: the game was fantastic. Rivaling most every game on the market (and surely the greatest DS game to ever grace the face of this Earth), I have yet to discover a single flaw in this game to date. It ages extremely well, as I still find myself coming back to it again and again.
I'll begin with the story. I won't spoil anything, because I want everyone to go into this game with no idea as to what will happen. This game offers one of the most complex, deep storylines with the single most engaging plot I've ever encountered. It's full of lore and general information about the Bakugan universe, but it offers it in such a way that while it's not mandatory that you read any of it, you actually WANT to. I've spent hours going through it, and still only seemed to scratch the surface. The characters are fabulously well made, acting and behaving like real people would. They have flaws, they make mistakes, at times they can even be predictable - but in a good way. You have to really get to know the other characters in order to predict their actions with any consistency, but no matter how well you feel you know them, there's always more to discover, just like real people, and they will continue to surprise you. More importantly, they interact with each OTHER. While you're off adventuring and pushing the plot forward, they'll be doing the same, making friendships and rivalries, sometimes resulting in you having to make tough decisions.
The mechanics of the game are equally groundbreaking. The game requires both talent and tactics, and experience will be your friend. You will be rewarded for careful planning and strategizing, but this will not win your games in and of itself. Likewise, having natural skill and talent for it's combat (along with some knowledge on the engine itself) will be a massive help, but without a good plan made prior, you won't make it too far. That being said, the game isn't necessarily difficult either. It simply makes you think, makes you do all you can to get an edge. At times, it can be comparable to chess; knowing the game's tactics and strategies as well as having the wisdom and natural instinct to know when to use them will result in a greater chance of victory. For those who don't want that much work or challenge, it has options available for them as well. The creators understood that not everyone wanted this, and did their best to account for everyone. They did so splendidly.
All in all, this is the single game I've ever played that I truly cannot find any fault in. If you're reading this, get the game. This is the gem of the industry, you won't ever regret it as long as you live.

While far from perfect it is still a fun time for fans of the show (or former fans, in my case.) The gameplay is fun, while the graphics are respectable, but the story is stale.

This game is a really fun to play game even more so if you watch the show witch is good as well . There are a couple things that could be better like you can't choose your gate card in battle arena but that is one of the very little list of things. Over all it's very fun to play through it's challenging and fun game

This game is so bad compared to the console versions and looks garbage, even for a ds game. The wii game doesn't have hdmi, and it still looks pretty good.

Combination of simplistic stealth arcade adventure and Virtual On style 3D battle arenas, this is a well presented and likeable game but there's just not enough to it.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers is like a bad hair day that never ends. The graphics are so dated that they make your grandma's old sweater look trendy. The gameplay is as confusing as trying to untangle a pair of earbuds that's been sitting in your pocket for a week.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers is like a bad hair day that never ends. The graphics are so dated that they make your grandma's old sweater look trendy. The gameplay is as confusing as trying to untangle a pair of earbuds that's been sitting in your pocket for a week.

But what really makes Bakugan Battle Brawlers a riot is the voice acting. It's so bad that it's good. The characters sound like they were voiced by a bunch of middle schoolers who just inhaled a tank of helium. And the dialogue? It's so cheesy that it would make a pizza delivery guy cringe.

The game's story is as predictable as a Monday morning, but that's what makes it so entertaining. You'll be laughing out loud as you battle your way through the game's levels, wondering how in the world anyone took this seriously.

Overall, Bakugan Battle Brawlers is a hilariously bad game that's worth playing just for the laughs. The graphics are terrible, the gameplay is confusing, and the voice acting is downright comical. But hey, sometimes you just need a good laugh, and Bakugan Battle Brawlers delivers. So grab your DS, pop in this game, and get ready to be thoroughly entertained.

Bakugan: Battle Brawlers seems to do things mostly right on paper, though the actual gameplay offers too much build-up to each fight and not enough in the actual battle department.
  2. A surprisingly respectable showing by Activision. With so many publishers putting little effort into titles aimed at the younger gaming audience, it's refreshing to see fans of this license get something worth playing. In the end, though, the lack of variety and stale pacing make this a game that's only really fun in very small doses.
  3. 50
Bakugan: Battle Brawlers doesn't offer anything new to the turn-based strategy genre.
