It is the perfect title for those that enjoy games such as Empire Earth, Civilization, Sim City, etc. I've had tons of fun with this game and will continue to play it for months to come.

Official Nintendo Magazine UKThe DS once again proves the perfect platform for the real time strategy genre. [Sept 2007, p.88]
-
An ideal choice for fans of the genre, and possibly a more surprising title for gamers who are curious.
-
For dedicated PC strategy nerds it might seem a little lightweight in comparison to what the desktop platform currently has to offer but, for accessible, deep, pocket-sized empire-building this is a game hard to fault.
-
Edge MagazineIn terms of the game’s central challenge, it excels at dividing the player’s attention between ambitions for continuous expansion and the manual maintenance of the empire as it stands. [Sept 2007, p.97]
-
Anno 1701 offers engrossing escapism and a refreshing alternative to more aggressive gaming themes. While it does nothing new for its genre and is firmly stuck in the days of the Amiga when god games were as popular the WWII FPS is today, it is still a great little title that deserves a huge chunk of your time.
-
One of the best strategy games released on DS, ANNO 1701 brings micro-management to the mainstream.
-
A stunning little game which deserves a US release and fast. The developers have set the precedent on developing ports for the DS.
-
Basically, anybody looking to build and maintain an imperialistic empire on their Nintendo DS should get this game.
-
Games Master UKAn intuitive civilisation management game that works just as well on the DS as the PC. [Sept 2007, p.84]
-
Nintendo GamerQuite charming and colourful RTS, with a simple and accessible stylus-only control scheme and a fun multiplayer. Not really that much depth for hardened RTSites though. [Sept 2007, p.65]
-
Anno 1701 offers a rich, portable strategy experience. It rests comfortably on well-worn games and gameplay mechanics, but fans of the genre should find what they're looking for.
-
games(TM)There are a couple of interface problems that mar this otherwise solid and entertaining DS title. [Aug 2007, p.117]
