Nice collection, which includes many important classics of English literature. Unlike what is erroneously claimed by many sources, the books are not pulled from public domain, but from HarperCollins' budget range of "affordable classics" called Collins Classics. Not the best editions available, not nearly as good as Oxford World's Classics for instance, but not royalty-free either, andNice collection, which includes many important classics of English literature. This is really just a cartridge with 100 Public Domain Books, but the presentation, and well-built technicality behind the application is calming. Can't rate it as a game, but it's certainly an app worth using if one is interested.

The only DS game without any sort of rating, time to read Othello for kids.

  1. Most titles are more suited to adults, such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream (which involves the mix-up of Athenian lovers), but more mature children looking for a great read may get some enjoyment of the title as well.
  2. While it has a few bells and whistles, 100 Classic Books is primarily an e-book application, and it does the job well. It's available at the budget price of $19.99, and its value only increases when you throw in the 10 extra downloadable novels.

It may have taken a long time coming, but Nintendo has put together a fine collection of classic books to keep everyone happy, packaging them in a superbly user-friendly format and offering up plenty of extras to ensure that true value for money is provided. If you are a book lover and have a Nintendo DS, then this little bargain should be right up your alley.
