    Sonic Adventure 2 is a very mixed bag, graphically the game has held up ok over the years with bright colours however the voice acting is horrible to say the least. The music is decent enough and then theres the gameplay. Sonic and Shadow's levels are very fun and are how Sonic games today should play, however these only take up a third of the game.     Jogo com historia linda, mas peca em um aspecto em especifico, querer te obrigar a jogar fases de tiros ou a caça as esmeraldas, que é oque mais me irritou.
    Fora isso o gráfico é lindo, personagens novos mais do que bem vindos, o shadow se tornou tão popular quanto o sonic.

    Controls in this game are not good. Finished all stories in 18 hours. I died many times couse of the controls. The only reason why would I recommend this game is becouse of the Chao Garden. A lot of new stuff was added. Don't 100% the game...Just finish it.

    Poeple hype this game waaaay too much. And even though it's not bad, it's another case when realy good parts of the game get drragged down by bad parts of the game(treasure hunting and mech sections). If the game were just speed sections I would probably love it, but it's not.

    Why am I negative about this game? The main reasons: a terrible camera, poor management, a bad story with a huge number of holes and shortcomings, especially some of the things made me pissed. Boring, except for the last in each campaign, bosses. There is no open world, which upset me greatly. And hell, you can’t just get into the Chao Garden.
    Although the advantages of this game are, for example, good graphics, some songs, high-speed gameplay for Sonic and Shadow. Some levels, it’s a pity that all levels are set against a player with a terrible Homing Attack, although I have seen worse.
    What is the outcome? This game is very much overrated, it has a lot of minuses, or rather, a lot. And for me, this game is terrible in almost all categories.
    My rating: 4.4 out of 10.

    But there may be things that can be annoying, like the fact that we can't choose who to play with, just the hero campaign or the dark campaign.     A huge downgrade from SA1 that starts off good and quickly goes down the drain. The story is a complicated mess, the gameplay stops being fun after Green Forest, the soundtrack is bland, just play the original instead.

    Oh boy. This game is the exact reason i am such a huge Sonic fan to this day. Everything i love about Sonic the Hedgehog is here. The amazing rock and variety in it's music, the ambitious story, the fast level design, and the fast and fun gameplay. Sonic and shadow are the best obviously. I love the focus on fast pace level design. The other playstyles do have some flawed levels, but stillOh boy. This game is the exact reason i am such a huge Sonic fan to this day.     The best sonic game ever created in my opinion. It is what every sonic should have been but wasn't. If i would give it a actual score it would be 9.8 and it is because i really don't like the level songs with lyrics they are really cheesy and stupid. But anything else is great, literally i don't have anything else to complain about the game

    O melhor jogo do Sonic disparado e também meu jogo favorito de todos os tempos, joguei no Dreamcast, zerei no GameCube e fiz 100% no PS3, esse jogo é uma LENDA VIVA e para o último jogo do Sonic no console da Sega, não podia espera menos. Meu sonho é Sonic Adventure 3, mas acho mais fácil lançar Half-Life 3 do que uma continuação para esse jogo...

The story is fantastic and the levels always feel like they serve the story, and not the other way around. It simultaneously has a surprisingly well-written, emotional and engaging story - without all of the cringe that is common for Modern Sonic games - and a vast and fun gameplay based on a solid platforming in a thoughtfuly done environment. It was a surprise for me just how many paths and juicy stuff there are in many levels like Final Rush and White JungleThis is the best Sonic game ever. It simultaneously has a surprisingly well-written, emotional and engaging story - without all of the cringe that is common for Modern Sonic games - and a vast and fun gameplay based on a solid platforming in a thoughtfuly done environment. It was a surprise for me just how many paths and juicy stuff there are in many levels like Final Rush and White Jungle - all of that just to encourage you to exploration and creativity without losing a sense of speed and momentum. Also Chao Garden is a helluva drug - I spend in it even more time than in actual levels, i guess, trying to eugenize The Ultimate Chao. So, basically, there are two games in one package - one of the best platformers of all time and a tamagochi, lel.

    This game is my childhood, You could be sitting hours and hours just trying to do what's possible and still not be done with it, there's too much to do with the game and everything you do can be so much fun, this is the game that can be played by many types of players, If only sega has followed their own example of a godly game maybe it would be more succesful nowadays.

    Desde mi punto de vista no comprendo como Sonic Adventure 2 puede ser mejor considerado mejor que el primero. El hecho de poder explorar aquel diminuto mundo se hacía mágico, algo que se ha perdido en este juego.

    No creo que sea e mejor juego 3D de Sonic, pero es de os mejores.

    Look, honestly, Sonic Adventure 2 is and will always be, one of the best games of its generation, many people say **** about this game, and how "bad it is" and how "it aged so poorly", well my friend, this is false, yes it has aged poorly (really poorly in fact!) but, at the time, people had different standards for video games, everyone said that it was amazing at the time! everyone wasLook, honestly, Sonic Adventure 2 is and will always be, one of the best games of its generation, many people say **** about this game, and how "bad it is" and how "it aged so poorly", well my friend, this is false, yes it has aged poorly (really poorly in fact!) but, at the time, people had different standards for video games, everyone said that it was amazing at the time! everyone was raving about it, for the last Sonic The Hedgehog game to ever be released on a Sega console, they really went out with a loud ass bang!
    In these days, people hyper-analyze Sonic games and turn every single nitpick into a game-breaking problem, and they blame the game for their lack of skill, and plus, they act like these old games are new! And on the other side of the neighborhood in Mario's house, when people criticize Mario 64, people say: "Oh no no, it's perfect and plus it's defined a generation!" or just "well it came out a long time ago", which I can understand but, don't do the same to sonic games and act like if you're right.
    But for now, If you are looking for an incredible 3D Sonic experience, Sa2 is a perfect choice!
    Amazing game-play, great and memorable Story, expansive content, great side mode, basically everything to keep you up for a long time!

    I played this game recently and I love it especially the speed sections. The only reason this is an 8/10 is because of the tedious treasure hunting and mech stages, other this game is old but gold. Although I don't like it as much as I like sonic adventure 1 it's still an amazing sequel to the first game and it's crazy that this game is looked down upon it's a great sonic game sure it's aI played this game recently and I love it especially the speed sections. Similarly to the first game we follow several characters, but here the characters are split up into two teams; the Hero team, including    Sonics first outing into 3D was good, if a little... very janky. And Sonic Adventure 2 still has a healthy amount of jank but overall I think the good far outweighs the bad here.

    Sonic Adventure 2 is the sequel to Sonic Adventure, who'da thunk right? Similarly to the first game we follow several characters, but here the characters are split up into two teams; the Hero team, including Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, and the Dark Team, including new comers Shadow The Hedgehog and Rogue The Bat, as well as Dr. Eggman himself. There are three gameplay styles including your standard gameplay from SA1, being S P E E D shared between Sonic and Shadow, a worse version of the emerald hunting gameplay from the first game shared between Knucks and Rogue, and finally, a pretty easy if boring third person shooter section shared between Tails and Eggman. You may have realized that I don't seem to care much for a whopping 2/3rds of the gameplay styles here, but unlike Sonic Unleashed where I similarly only like a third of the gameplay, I find the non-Sonic gameplay to be fairly superfluous, they don't take 30+ minutes, they're not mind numbingly boring and they don't force a half baked combat system down your throat. The worst gameplay is undoubtedly the Emerald Hunting, it's pretty bad. Like the first game you must find Emeralds with a tracker, only now levels are way bigger and take way more time, they never lasted quite as long as the Werehog but man were not fun. Next on the chopping block is the shooting, it's pretty much the same as Gamma from SA1, if a little better, they're not quite as easy as Gamma but they're still pretty easy, a bit of platforming here and there, some mindless shooting and you're done, nothing that'll put you to sleep but nothing very engaging either, fairly middle of the road if you ask me. Finally there's the speedy go fast levels, these are predictably the best, they're great fun, especially the first Stage for the Hero Team, City Escape, which yes, is where the infamous "rolling around at the speed of sound" Song comes from... Which I love, unironically, it's a good song cowards! But yeah the gameplay is your standard Sonic affair, not quite as perfectly fluid and fast as Unleashed, not Automated to hell like Forces but not quite as janky as SA1, it's pretty great but some improvements could definitely be made, and they were in future titles.

    The story revolves around Shadow in his first appearance, coming to earth to kill everybody... Yup. See Shadow has amnesia and believes his dead friend Maria asked him to take revenge on humanity after G.U.N, remember G.U.N? Killed her. Why Shadow would think Maria would ask for revenge and against all of humanity at that is beyond me, but it's fine, they straighten him out eventually. He's aided by Dr. Eggman who's doing the usual Eggman things and Rouge The Bat, a secret agent for G.U.N. This game also started the trend of people mistaking Sonic for literally anybody and everybody else, despite Shadow being red and black and Sonic being blue... Maybe humanity should be wiped out by Shadow. On the Heroes side, Sonic has to clear his name and he's aided by Tails and Knuckles because friendship is dope. This game introduces Gerald Robotnik, Eggmans grandfather, he doesn't do much outside of this game but hey, it makes it all the more confusing when Forces tries to convince you the world is made up of anthro's and not humans.

    Adventure 2 carries a lot of flaws that the first game had, weird controls, a funky camera, bad gameplay sections and uh... interesting character animations and dialogue, but overall the game manages to be a more enjoyable time overall, be it it's slightly better gameplay or it's melodramatic story that actually lands a few of it's emotional beats, I find this game to be far more enjoyable than the first and it's the one I go back to more.

    The people that dislike Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 need to git gud. The Sonic franchise peaked at this era and took a nosedive afterwards.

    It's not perfect but it's a damn good game and has a well written(relatively for a sonic game) yet delightfully silly story and amazing soundtrack and art style at a level that has never been achieved in a Sonic game since.

But there are good things of course: soundtrack, final boss and sonic's stages are fun to play! What do I think of the chaos? They are fun. 6/10 Play the first one it's better.

It made for not only a strong first impression of the console, but successfully launched Sonic back into the spotlight after being largely gone from the 5th Generation. While it was unfortunate that the Dreamcast didn’t last long, at the very least it was able to go out with one last big Sonic game. SonicThe original Sonic Adventure was the highest selling game on the Sega Dreamcast. It made for not only a strong first impression of the console, but successfully launched Sonic back into the spotlight after being largely gone from the 5th Generation. While it was unfortunate that the Dreamcast didn’t last long, at the very least it was able to go out with one last big Sonic game. Sonic Adventure 2 was a strong finish for the Dreamcast, as well as a good way to celebrate the franchise’s 10th anniversary. Close to 20 years after its initial release, however, has certainly showed off more and more of the game’s flaws much like SA1. In spite of that, though, it remains one of the most popular games in the franchise, and one that is still worth looking into.
    SA2 goes much deeper into its storytelling compared to SA1. Sonic has been framed for a crime he didn’t commit, all thanks to the new hedgehog in town Shadow, who has teamed up with Eggman and jewel thief Rouge the Bat to take over the world and, in Shadow’s case, get revenge on humanity. So it’s up to Sonic and friends to save the day. While I certainly applaud SA2 for striving towards a more ambitious story, the general storytelling itself is very clumsy, often mistranslated and filled with many holes and inconsistencies. The general presentation has definitely improved from last time, though, with actual cutscene choreography and more expressive performances. This would also be the first game to utilize motion capture, and while it’s certainly primitive it is a welcomed change from SA1’s canned animations. Visually the game looks great and the soundtrack once again delivers, this time using stage themes that reflect the character rather than the environment.
    SA2 is structured similarly to SA1, where you get to play as multiple characters each with their own gimmicks. Compared to SA1, though, the number of gameplay style has reduced to just three: High-speed platforming with Sonic and Shadow, Mech shooting with Tails and Eggman, and Treasure Hunting with Knuckles and Rouge. This, along with the lack of hub worlds, make this a more focused game compared to SA1, but it’s not without its faults. The Speed stages are easily the best parts of the game, but they feel significantly more straightforward and flat compared to how dynamic stages were previously. The mech stages are much clunkier and more frustrating than Gamma’s, with Tails’ stages being the worst offender. The treasure hunting stages, however, are the worst parts of the game. It greatly reduces the usefulness of the radar system and makes many of the late game stages unnecessarily large and spacious, making it an absolute chore to complete. While mech and treasure hunting stages certainly have their moments, I can really only fully enjoy about 1/5th of the overall experience.
    The chao garden makes a triumphant return from the original, and it’s been greatly expanded upon with the use of animals and chaos drives to increase your chao’s stats and physical characteristics, raising them to partake in mini games like races or karate matches. Unless you know how to exploit it, it’s easily the most time consuming, grinding part of the game. If that doesn’t appeal to you, you’re better off skipping it. The game also brings back emblems for you to earn which unlock Green Hill Zone when you collect them all.
    Much like SA1, this game is a very mixed bag. It’s able to make much needed improvements from the original, while simultaneously creating new ones. I’d say I enjoyed this game about as much as I did SA1, but I still prefer SA1 overall. It’s still one of the better 3D Sonic titles out there, and I would say get the updated re-releases instead.    … Expand

    Best 3D Sonic game for sure! No argument that this is a top 3 DC title and a must have for your collection.

    Great story and great graphics. A lot more development work put into the Chao garden with the addition of mini games as well.

    Still to this day I think about this game regularly. The heart of my gaming nostalgia. For me, it was and still remains the perfect gaming format for Sonic.

I don't recommend this game tho. so No spamdash! the jumps feels like your Floating for ever! + the jumps feels Soo Stiff! the story is Good ngl. Knuckles/Rouge emerald detector is Bad. Tails/Eggman levels are Boring except the final Eggman level in Dark Story. Knuckles/Rouge Levels can take an 15 mins or in death chamber 30 min!so I tried Sonic adventure so I played Sonic adventure 2. It's just slippery, boring,buggy overall trash and WHY THE **** THE HUB WORLDS ARE GONE. they were lazy and they made the second game actually a lot worse damnnn on every aspect. Sonic adventure 7,5/10 sonic adventure 2 3/10. They destroyed the sequel in my opinion. 2,5 for the story and 0,5 for gameplay just hell nah. I heard a lot of people say that sonic adventure 2 has the best story. For me it s really descent and has a lot of plot holes and has things that does not even make Sense.     Sonic Adventure is a great game. Sonic Adventure 2 is a masterpiece. He defined what the saga would be in the following years, gave us two characters to remember and gave us one of the most iconic themes in the history of gaming, Live & Learn.

The gameplay introduces new mechanics, harder levels, a larger plot, better production, and the game reinforces all this with ranks and missions. Unfortunately, Sonic Adventure 2 also does a few things a bad sequel would do. Everyone controls worse and certain mechanics can often clash with one another (ie the lightspeedSonic Adventure 2 does a few good things that a sequel should do. Unfortunately, Sonic Adventure 2 also does a few things a bad sequel would do. Everyone controls worse and certain mechanics can often clash with one another (ie the lightspeed dash and the bounce ability). Returning mechanics are a functional step down from the game prior. There are three gameplay formats but the player no longer decides which one they want to play specifically which makes adapting to the control changes and new mechanics an unnecessary challenge. The kart racing segments function poorly and did not need to be included. Despite this, the returning mechanics don't take away from some of the new ones. For example, the new grinding mechanic does a great job shaking up the gameplay and opens up fun new challenges and unique level design. The new drill dive that the Treasure Hunting characters now have is snappy and adds flow to their movement. Even though they function poorly, the gravity gimmicks of the final stages are integrated well and were likely innovative in their time.… Expand

Shadow is a great rival and his backstory tends to take turns along with the story. Well there are two sides to Play as the hero and the bad guys which gives main characters of the series get more of a spotlight. By the way the controls are exceptional and all the levels are creative and are explorable with iconic titles and pretty great graphics for a 2001 game. The only problem is that the story can get pretty confusing just pay attention and have fun with this Great game.… Expand

    yes i like this game, if it would have the combination with an little open zone lobby like in DX it would be a 10 but the levels are great exspecially Knuckles and yes good games ya know

    This game ain't perfect, it has its fair share of issues, such as the light dash and the bounce attack being mapped to the same button (leading to some **** moments), the radar in the treasure-hunting levels being gimped (but the neat hint system exists so it's not a big issue), the mech stages having some real bs enemy placements (more    First off, let me get the flaws out of the way.

All of these shortcomings don't really matter to me, but these are still shortcomings nonetheless. But hey, at least there are mods for the PC version that fixes some of these issues.

    But please, let's not pretend that Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine (games that came out around the same time as the GC version of this game) are flawless as well. Those games have problems of their own and yet everyone still praises them to death. Everyone's happy to talk down to SA2 for its flaws and yet ignore the flaws in those two other games, great as they are. A bit unfair, don't you think?

    But now, let's get to the good parts.
    In my opinion, this is one of, if not, the best Sonic game ever made. I don't have much nostalgic attraction towards this game, and yet I still love it a lot. This game builds on top of its predecessor, SA1 (which is a pretty good game) and improves almost everything from it. Gameplay is better, music is as amazing as usual, story is neat and enjoyable, graphics are charming as hell (well, the Dreamcast graphics, anyways) and the writing is as cheesy as ever, but in a good way.

    The game features fast speed stages that require you to be attentive and reactive to any obstacle coming your way, with the reward being the satisfaction of speed. You're encouraged to do special tricks like grinding rails and chaining homing attacks to get A ranks here.
    Then there are the treasure-hunting stages, which are quite fun. I see people bashing the treasure-hunting stages non-stop, and while I can see where they're coming from, to me they are pretty damn neat. It's so damn fun to just explore the stages and glide around. They are still quite fast imo, just not as fast as the speed stages.

    The mech stages are also great. The movement is definitely a bit slow but the levels make up for that by requiring you to be extra-attentive and quick-minded when to protect yourself from getting hit by enemies. I love getting combos and farming chaos drives for my Chao Garden in these stages.

    Oh, speaking of which, the Chao Garden is the best part of any videogame ever and I don't need to tell you why. All I can tell you is that my pet chao are now legally my children and you can't tell me otherwise, I love them that much.

    The ranking system is also amazing and adds loads of replay value to these stages and it's really damn cool.

    Overall, my favorite Sonic game ever (right next to Sonic Mania) and one of my favorite games ever. It deserves way more love than it gets on the internet imho. 9.7/10, right next to Sonic Mania.    … Expand

    It's a good game, a very nice one, but, it has a problem, that, is by far, Sonic and Shadow levels, not because they're bad levels, it's becase this levels are too short and there are not too much, just 11 of 30 levels, they're the third part of this game, the other levels are too largue compared with Sonic/Shadow levels.
    Away from that, it's one of the bests Sonic games

    I played this game for the first time because i heard that it is the best 3d sonic game, but i disagree. IT is the best sonic game of them all. Holds up well even by today's standards, all three gameplay styles are enjoyable and soundtrack is FIRE.

The sonic and shadow levels are great and fun to play, and the treasure hunter levels are mid to me. But overall this game still deserves a 10.… Expand

    this is the best sonic game i have played the only problems are the camera and the tails and egg-man levers with death pits and the fact that if you still have rings you can still die and the final story were if you get a game over you have to do every thing over but it is still the best.

    Sonic Adventure 2 is a great addition to the Adventure series with it's top tier soundtrack and story still being great to this day. Some aspects show it's age and the gameplay has it's weaker points making it not as SA1. But it's still a great title that with enough playtime can get most sonic fans and gamers to enjoy themselves.

    Definitely the one of the best sonic games my only complaint is the space levels with rouge and knuckles other than that the story is one of the best the characters are great

I am not lying when I say that Sonic Adventure 2 is a good game. Not perfect, but still enjoyable. Pretty much everything it has to offer is very solid.     Imo it was overhyped. It wasn't even a special, not even 15 minutes. Just a regular episode and Nickelodeon had this HUGE marketing promo for it?
