Both games are directly targeted at the budget level, and are steals for gamers that have never owned the PlayStation versions, or just never had the chance to really get into either one.
  2. Think of it as a time capsule of sorts, and a lesson in just how far hardware has progressed over a few short years.
  3. A decent job of reskinning the old PlayStation version with new Dreamcast graphics, the game is still dark and moody, with the action well spaced out between the tense situations.

A deliberately, paced adventure, Dino Crisis nicely fits the bill; others will be more satisfied with any of the "Resident Evil" series.
  5. You can look past the aged graphics, there is a great survival horror title here to be had.

The graphics have been tightened a bit to rival the PC version's and... well, that's about it.
  7. Dino Crisis is essentially "Resident Evil" with dirty great lizards instead of rotting zombies, it's still atmospheric and cinematic and it's still a bloody good survival horror romp.

I can whole-heartedly recommend this game to Dreamcast fans who have never played the game... just don't expect any huge bragging rights over those PlayStation owners.
  9. Fails to take advantage of the Dreamcast hardware, resulting in a game that is structurally sound but visually average by Dreamcast standards.

Still contains all the white-knuckle, suspense-filled gameplay that made the PlayStation version so great. Don't go in expecting something extraordinary or new, because you won't find it here.
  11. It's got scary atmosphere, decent graphics, excellent sound, great dinosaur enemies, ominous locales, and plenty to do. If you've already played through the PlayStation version, there's little reason to run out to get the Dreamcast rendition.
  12. Regina is one tough chick (a poster girl for the fictitious 'EuroAsia' of videogame and anime lore), but doesn't have the 'deer caught in the headlight' charm of Claire Redfield or Jill Valentine.

I love Dino Crisis a lot and I love the character Regina so much. I wish we had HD remakes of this and Dino Crisis 2. I have finished bothI love Dino Crisis a lot and I love the character Regina so much. I wish we had HD remakes of this and Dino Crisis 2. I have finished both games more then once just I did with Resident Evil 2, 3, and Code: Veronica as well as Syphon Filter, Syphon Filter 2, and Syphon Filter 3. Dino Crisis should be remade in HD and so should Dino Crisis 2 forget Dino Crisis 3. Full Review »

It's a survival horror game that provides plenty of thrills. The game is challenging, but fun. This was released on the PS2 around the same time that Resident Evil 3: Nemesis arrived. The big difference between the two is the pacing. In "Nemesis", the pace is faster with an emphasis on weapons and ammo. Dino Crisis is more in the tradition of the original Resident Evil. There are less enemy encounters and guns, but more jump scare moments. You truly feel like you're hanging out to the seat of your pants. It's a terrific game. I would give it an 8.5 out of 10.
