A great idea from Nintendo to bring games from the NES to the 3DS in the form of challenges. However I would have loved it even more if they had full copies of the games from the NES. But it's still pretty fun and entertaining, and once you know how to play the games, it gets better and better. Nintendo did well on this one.

Hey kids! Do you want to be told to do menial tasks in classic video games that just make you wish you were actually playing the game? Well then this game is for you! With tasks ranging from jump on a goomba to taking the sword in the beginning of The Legend of Zelda, you'll jump for joy as the mind-numbingly obvious instructions practically insult your intelligence.

Honestly, there's no need for you to buy this game. Just play the originals. The lousy "remixed" stages are just parts of the original game with elements from other games thrown in so lazily that it barely affects the gameplay at all.

Seriously, just go into the virtual store in the eshop and buy the originals.

I find this game to be very enjoyable, just fun pick up and play challenges in NES games, which I always love, there is also a championship mode which is actually a really nice addition, however this game could have really benefited from a sort of randomizer, something that gives random challenges, because for now it just feels like once you've done everything in the game theres nothingI find this game to be very enjoyable, just fun pick up and play challenges in NES games, which I always love, there is also a championship mode which is actually a really nice addition, however this game could have really benefited from a sort of randomizer, something that gives random challenges, because for now it just feels like once you've done everything in the game theres nothing left to do but select a level. Wow this Ultimate NES Remix was a big disappointment. I think the biggest problem is holding true to the NES scheme of B for B and A for A. The A is so close to the edge of my 3DS that it's problematic and I would have appreciated it to be Y for B and B for A. The game feels like an advertisement for the real games on the virtual shop.

    Ultimately pointless.

Taking the idea of Wario Ware and applying it to NES classic games, you get something along the lines of Ultimate NES Remix. Unfortunately, whilst Wario Ware's games were designed to be bite-sized, these games weren't and it feels forced. Unfortunately, whilst Wario Ware's games were designed to be bite-sized, these games weren't and it feels forced. There is (as seems to be a trend for Nintendo over the past decade) far too much hand-holding, where you are told exactly what you need to do. It gets pretty difficult all of a sudden after you pass a certain stage, but this doesn't add any compulsion to make the effort to finish and get all the stars.

There is a high-speed version of Super Mario Bros included. It sucks. The game runs so jerkily that you will likely die not from the higher speed, but from a skipped frame causing you to miss a jump.

As others have suggested, spend the money on e-shop credit and buy some of the original games on the Virtual Console, you'll get a whole lot more value for your cash.

Two of the best Wii U games come together in one solid compilation. Ultimate NES Remix for 3DS perfectly captures the NES era’s highlights and mixes it with enough new content to make it feel like a new, refreshing experience that gamers old and young will all enjoy! It lags behind a few problems here and there, but that doesn’t stop it’s highly unique challenges from being the real stars.

Ultimate NES Remix is a collection of mini-challenges from 16 NES classics and new "remixes" for a fresh take on old games. Completing all challenges at the top 3-star level will unlock the Famicon (Japanese) version of the games. Those who will find the most enjoyment from this game are those who played the NES games as children but these games pass the test of time and should be enjoyed by those new to them as well. With the inclusion of online leaderboards and the ability to download replays of the top times there is good replay potential. Overall, a great game for those nostalgic for NES games and good game for those looking for mini-game challenges to compete with others online. Expand

    It's stupid.
Ultimate NES Remix is a collection of challenges across many classic NES titles such as The Legend of Zelda and Excitebike. The challenges are nothing more than the gameplay fundamentals, and they're insultingly easy. When there's actual challenges, they're ok; nothing more, nothing less. There aren't any sort of online leaderboards, so if you get a high score,

    NES Remix gets a 4/10.

A compilation of the best bits of NES remix 1 and 2 for the Wii U. It’s fine, but it just makes you wish you were playing the real games. There are a few NES games missing from the Wii U entries, but those are usually the least integral and more so filler. Overall, this is pretty inoffensive, and if they did this stuff with other old consoles I would be intrigued. Not a must, but it’s solid.

Nintendo would have been better off renaming this 'The Best of NES Remix 1&2' - admittedly not the catchiest title but it is not misleading unlike the actual name of Ultimate NES Remix.

Ultimate NES Remix offers a good collection of gameplay pills to enjoy, but the price is hardly justified. If you have the chance pick up one of the two Wii U episodes, and consider this portable one only if you really enjoyed them, or just want to play outside.

Ultimate NES Remix for 3DS takes sixteen NES classics and sends you on missions that are full of self-mockery. Everytime it is challenging to beat the high scores. An awesome game for on the go, but we cannot understand why this 3DS game offers less content than it's big brother on Wii U.
