As movie game tie-ins go, Thor: God of Thunder is definitely one of the better ones, but that doesn't stop it growing stale and repetitive rather quickly.

Thor 3DS still offers a passable brawler for fans of the genre at its most basic, but if you're looking for the next great portable game, you best look elsewhere.

With this restructured control scheme, a lot of the frustration is alleviated. That gives this N3DS edition the edge over its Wii sibling, but it's ultimately a case of too little too late. [Oct 2011, p.83]

As a movie tie-in it is a surprisingly well-polished title, but as a video game experience it lacks that spark and direction to take it further.

While proceedings might start out enjoyable, Thor: God of Thunder's trip to boredom and mediocrity ruin what ultimately could have been a solid third person romp. If you're after you're action fix you could certainly do worse; just don't expect this to be the 3DS' answer to God of War.

Many of the problems with this 3DS version link back to the uniqueness of the Wii game: its motion controls have not translated well to the cramped button and touch screen layout on the 3DS.

Thor plays a lot like the god of war like hack n slashes. Going from room to room taking on hoards of enemies. The fighting system is solidThor plays a lot like the god of war like hack n slashes. Going from room to room taking on hoards of enemies. The fighting system is solid and fast paced as well as makes you feel like you are Thor .There's enemies, places, and bosses and fit into the Thor universe that's fun if your a fan or not. 3D is hit or miss sometimes noticeable. The game is about 5hrs long and has replayabilty with unlock-ables and hidden things. over all a good game but a bit short. Full Review »

With clunky controls, bad story and tons of glitches, God of Thunder should be dropped in the bin, never to be seen again. At least rent the game. It's not worth the money Full Review »
