Way better than the Wii U and PC version. Controls are nice, there’s a lot of great levels, and even a fair amount of difficulty towards the end. While some levels are questionable design-wise, and the final world is nothing but bosses, Sonic Lost World 3DS is a great experience for those willing to play it.

Just… don’t play the special stages.

    +Decent visuals and soundtrack

    Cons
-Missing a lot of stages/levels from the console/PC port
-Frustrating controls and camera size, high chance of falling into pits or running into enemies
-Stages changed completely and involve annoying puzzles, regular enemies that take longer to kill than bosses
    -Missing characters and cutscenes
-3DS version cutscenes are heavily pixelated

The game looks ok,the graphics are like sonic colors on 3ds but that's not a big deal. The thing that is bad is that levels can be to long,to way too easy or hard or annoying. And it feels like it took a few months to make with a crappy story, has uninspired bosses that look like discounted koopaings and boss fights are too easy and the wisp are very useless.

this game is amazing the story is well made and the level design is not that bad but not good either but this game got lots of attention to me because they made a crafting thing and you can craft lifes helicopters and yeah thats all also the soundtracks are in my opinion the best of thoose sonic games(doesnt count sonic colours and generations)

When it comes to Sonic Lost World, few games fail so spectacularly at executing the most basic aspects of gameplay. Whether it's the awkward control system that works against the player at every turn, the frustrating level designs which frequently overshoot their own ambitions, the anticlimactic boss fights, or complete lack of flow or momentum in its design, nothing about this game ever quite adds up to a satisfying experience. The 3DS version also frequently struggles to hold an acceptable framerate, and is further burdened by atrociously compressed FMV cinematics and bonus stages which make infuriatingly poor use of the system's built-in gyroscope. All in all, a tough sell even for the most die-hard Sonic fans and best avoided by nearly everyone else. Expand

This game brings in a brand new style of Sonic and it succeeded at making it fun. And the fact that it’s on a 3DS is remarkable, even if some of the level design sucks. And the special stages are also pretty bad. But even if those flaws make the game less enjoyable, I still recommend it to everyone who owns a 3DS.

The cutscenes are bland with unfunny lame jokes that go nowhere treating the games that the developers and writers think that Sonic is made for four-year-olds, Jumping in midair is kind of too fast for the physics, the wisps are somewhat forced and somewhat optional but you get the idea and some boss battles are bland and some are easy to beat.

One Cutscene I only liked is Where Tails became a Cyborg and pretends to be one as he was spying on his trap to robotized without the Zetis knowing it. The Music is pretty good but some of them are cool and some of them are just decent. The Androids are sometimes annoying and one level where you have to push the snowballs is kind of annoying too.

if anyone says that Sonic is slow, nope he can go just as fast as Classic Sonic or Sonic Adventure's momentum and the camera can be controlled is where a lot of people forgot and the Red Rings Extras are optional to unlock which you don't have to be forced to unlock it which is good in my opinion. It is also that Sonic can run on walls and ceilings but sometimes it was painful where the physics get a little bit sluggish.

This is from the perspective of an individual who has never played Sonic 2006 and Wii U Sonic Lost World. Face it. This game is bad. The controls are clunky and levels are poor and uninspired. Sonic is too slow and a lot more is wrong with this (like the Deadly Six). That's right. This game is very bad. I made this review really late, too.

For controls if you love Lost world wiiu controls and handling you might hate this, but if you hate wiiu version Lost world you might love this. The wiiu version handling is off compared to pervious sonic titles. This game learning curve is easier and more adaptable but I understand through fan response some enjoy the "skill = reward" rather then " a skill is a tool to access the reward ". You may target enemies you didn't intend to attack but for the most part the game is solid except for gyro controls.

For level design it does vary in quality. Most of the bad levels are in the middle of this game and the better one are at the beginning and ending through out your play through.

Finally multiplayer is fun but the battle mode isn't very well flesh out for the game play style. Racing is mostly fun and the levels has been alter to possibly remove areas you disliked in the main campaign. You can find a decent online base but it's populated with rage quitter.

Sonic can be controlable in any way you want, and that makes the game able for inteligent game design, that focus much more on platforming than on high speed. and i think that a good balance of both is what makes a sonic game, and dimps made it right.

    but the positives ends here.
While Windy Hill and Desert Ruin are basically easy levels, the game starts to become more life threatening when you enter Tropical Island. the majority of the next leves are good, but the Gimmicks of wisps,Rockets and Snowball Monsters,in certain levels (Tropical Island act2,Frozen Factory act 3 and Sky Road Act 3) will make you tear your hair off. while Tropical Island and Frozen Factory are still enjoyable with enough practice (that is a good thing in my opnion, and the way it should be),i still did not find a way to play properly in sky road act 3... that level will make you scream... oh boy...

the error here is the focus on gyro controls, the use of it on Sky Road is confusing, and i cant get it to work properly... and this is a huge disapointment to me. and the Special stages are another case of bad use of gyro controls. while i enjoy the way they are presented to me,like sonic is a jet fighter, stand up,turn the 3DS up and down and all arround (Speed highway reference) made me dizzy a lot of times... i needed to sit down for 2 or 3 minutes after every play on the special stages just to be oriented properly again...i swear you lose your sense of direction playin' that special stages.

The ammount of Do or Die situations doesn't help either, half the game you can do with no problems, but the other half you'll need to get every gimmick right,or else you'll plummet to the earth and die. with some training you can do it... but prepare to see the game over screen a lot of times if you're not carefull. and for those who just want to run at full speed,NO,this is not the game for you. you need to use your head in a lot of situations, and often slow down a bit. i know it's boring, but for me that's how sonic design should be. not dumbly going at 3000km/h like in generations.and train the use of the wisps because you'll need it... some i like (Laser,Drill,Burst,Lightning),some i dislike(Asteroid,Quake).

and the bosses: Seriously that they are deadly?! hahaha... they are pushovers in battle. with the right strategy,or the use of wisps, you can take them down in 30 seconds,or less... what makes them look like child's play. but one good point of them is that i like their personality, especially the over the top Zazz... overall they are ok... just easy...

    well the history:
it's allright in my opnion, and i like the focus on more serious words ("You goin' home in a box,and "I'll get fat from eating your black hearts, you eggman wannabes")... those were the more memorable moments and the cherry in the cake. i personally like it a LOT. but is is adequate for a sonic game?! well... no...
the story is well writen, and will make you laugh at times... but it has it's hard moments...

Music: oh my god... if there's one thing that Sonic team and Dimps knows how to do,is the sound track,it is AMAZING. and while i mentioned i hated sky road act 3,it's music is so badass i often turn the game on just to listen to it. every song in this game is beautiful... Dragon Dance,Frozen Factory1 and Juice Archipelago being my favorites.

RC Vehicles and Itens: the Rc vehicles will be your table of salvation. have them always with you, because you'll gonna need them. my favorites are the Jet,the Stealth Bomber and the Hovercraft. because they are much usefull in their gold modes... but in my opnion the golden vehicles for the most part spoils the game... so,you should only use them in the stages i mentioned before: ESPECIALLY IN SKY ROAD ACT 3. you gonna need the golden hovercraft, believe me... the other ones... the helo is okay and the Omochao... well... kinda unecessary... but okay too... and have always the life capsule item with you,ya gonna need it. make a lot of them and always go on with at least 10 or so of those things.

    My final Veredict: 6/10
if it wasn't frustrating at some points and used the game design better with less do or die situations it could be ranked much higher. This engine of dimps has promisse,it just needs to be used Right in my opnion. less focus on dificulty and do or die situations, and more focus on inteligent design. if this is done correctly,i can picture it beign much better.

But than it has so many things wrong with it that keeps me from fully liking this game.

The first couple of stages are great, and it made me believe that this game would be something different. Something great.
But than they start to introduce new mechanics, partnered with some terrible level design. And it just starts going all downhill. Especially when they force you to use the Wisps. These are the worst addition to this game. Sega felt the need to try and make every level feel fresh by forcing you to use Wisps, instead of actually designing their stages around the free run mechanics and the fairly fast platforming.

For instance; in the first of the Forest levels (I forgot the name of the zone) they make you use a "stone wisp" which you have to roll around with the gyroscope in the 3DS. There's no way to break, and no way to turn back. The only thing you can do is steer, which is really disorientating. Especially when you have to push a switch. Roll over a set of platforms. Make a weird jump onto a switch and than somehow not fall off the too small platform that the switch is one.

Or the water level where you have to use a wisp to navigate. You use this wisp more than 90% of the level and there is no way to do it without using the wisp. Did I mention that it controls like **** and that you're basically dead whenever you touch something?

Oh, and the 2D levels, there are a couple of them and they feel glitchy and unfun. Sega has to learn to let 2D Sonic go. They did this in Generations too, where the 3D parts where fantastic, but the 2D segments just felt unnecessary and they really took me out of the action. Though they weren't close to as bad as they are in this game, they were still enjoyable enough to ignore.

But than they have some levels which are great! The, as previously mentioned, first couple of levels were great and there were some levels that were also fantastic, like the first stage in Frozen Factory Zone, which managed to use the electric Wisp in a fun way, even though it also had a terrible snowboarding segment at the beginning.

This game really disappointed me. There were some really great levels, incredible graphics for a 3DS and a great soundtrack. But SEGA managed to screw it up by forcing me to use some really sloppy mechanics.

I'll be the one to admit though, it's not for everyone. If you enjoy the boosting modern sonic games, this may not be up your alley. Sonic is considerably slower than any recent game. Not that it ruins the game, but some people may be turned away from it.

Another obvious thing is that you have to be into platformer games. If you're more of a first person shooter kind of person, this will not be fun for you. And if you want a serious and dark story, this will also not be for you. Sonic is meant to just be a fun, family friendly, platforming adventure.

For what it aims to be, Sonic Lost World is fantastic. The reviews for any Sonic game will always be lower, because the fanbase is so split on every decision. But if you don't mind the few things I said above, then this game will be fantastic for you. I'd recommend it any day.

Also, the jump function, another NO. even if your walking (by not pressing R) you'll immediately accelerate to running speed, which REALLY screws up precision platforming, which this game should NOT have because its a sonic game. Though the music could get pretty cool, especially silent forest, which has the best music in my opinion, but places like frozen factory, has uninspiring music. Even the best music in this game can't compare with the music in Sonic Colors. Also, most enemies you cannot hit by just homing in onto them, no, they have SWEET SPOTS, and if you don't hit those spots, there goes your rings! Now, that ok, but NOT in a game like this. But you do have a stun power, but its just annoying. How about the levels? GOD AWFUL! Lets talk about how they are horrible by category:
    1. Forced color powers.
Now, color powers in sonic colors were fun, but in this game, they are necessary, or else more often than not YOU WILL DIE. and since they have a time limit, thats HARRIBLE (no, not horrible, HARRIBLE. the "A" just makes it sound worse than horrible, say it out loud.)
    2. Tube-shaped levels
At first, i thought this was a good idea. Only when you are outside the tube. but when you are inside the tube, it get very slippery, because there is gaps. Remember how i said you accelerate when you jump? Yeah, you really realize hoe horrible it gets during these parts (which is the second level by the way!)
Lets talk about how the levels work. Most likely, you won't find a smooth ride to point A, to point B. You will most likely have to push some buttons, or push fruit, or navigate around horrible level design to get to the end. Oh, and one more thing: Frozen factory, level 3. NO.

While Sonic Lost World isn’t a terrible game, I feel as though Sega missed the mark quite a bit here. The controls are very touchy and at times downright horrible, the auto-target feature can get you into trouble with the homing attack, and the novelty of the Special Stages wears off quickly.

Great potential squandered by unimaginative level design and cheap mechanical failings. [Christmas 2013, p.82]

While some infrequent instances of poor game design prevent the game from being an absolute success, it's still a very worthy entry in the Sonic franchise that can keep up with and, in some areas, even surpass its home console counterpart.
