    Scribblenauts Unmasked is a fun title. It takes the best elements of the series and combines them with the DC Universe in a way that feels natural and fun. Developer 5th Cell has painstakingly mined the DC Universe and delivered a game that really takes advantage of the license.

    Considering the sheer wealth of content and attention paid to the DC lore, Scribblenauts Unmasked manages to rise above its shortcomings, making this game a smart pickup for comic book fans and players interested in using words, not just weapons, to save the world.

    Fans of the DC universe will have fun with all of the possibilities, and anyone else willing to overlook some game play snags can have fun here. Ultimately though, the mechanical and presentation issues keep the game from shining as brightly as it could.

    With Scribblenauts Unmasked, the addition of DC characters brings an equally impressive cast of references from the legendary comic book universe. Unfortunately, though, die-hard fans of the DC universe are likely the only group of people who will appreciate this game to its fullest. For everyone else, if you haven't played a Scribblenauts, you may want to purchase Scribblenauts: Unlimited instead (equally polished game for less than half the price).

    While Scribblenauts Unmasked has all the elements of a Scribblenauts title, it doesn't have the same room for creativity — and that's probably what makes the whole thing feel a little off. Without room for imagination, all that's left is a game that tells you what to do. Admittedly, it's frequently superheroes doing the telling (and that may be more than enough for some people), but that doesn't make it any more fun.

    The core gameplay is still enjoyable and the addition of DC characters makes this game the most expansive yet. But if you’ve already played around as God with Maxwell’s notebook then there is little reason to return.

    Overall, I think the concept of the game is great. To finally have a licensed property in a Scribblenauts game was a great idea, which, inOverall, I think the concept of the game is great. To finally have a licensed property in a Scribblenauts game was a great idea, which, in this case, is DC Comics. With hundreds of characters included, form the most well-known to the most obscure, any hero you can think of is most likely featured in here. Any costume, any gadget, everything is here. There are hundreds of possibilities, and even the ability to add adjectives to other objects. This can be somewhat broken, but it’s still a cool thing to have. Unfortunately, the gameplay is what kills the experience. There are barely any Starites to collect. Most of the gameplay consists of helping civilians to build up currency for unlocking new areas. This is not even mentioning the smaller issues, like how a few of the costumes require you to use Streetpass functionality to find other people who own the game. Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone else with this game, so I am unable to unlock these. The majority are unlockable through buying with in-game currency. Some of them are way too expensive, and can cost up to 3,000 currency. Some of the control feels limited, like picking which power to use can be difficult. Enemies can gang up on you and make it nearly impossible. However, one cool feature they did add is to play through the origin stories of six different superheroes. This is really cool (my personal favorite to play was Batman). The game tries to simultaneously please Scribblenauts and DC fans, but won’t completely be able to do either one. The gameplay is questionable, the unlock system is flawed, and while it’s great to play with so many powers, it’s just too bad it wasn’t utilized to it’s full potential.… Full Review »

It felt like you had no freedom of creation, and it just did not feel like a normal scribblenauts game to me. It still is fun, don't get me wrong, but if you were to buy this, I reccomend this game to people who don't mind a few shorthands there and there.… Full Review »
