This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mega evolution is why there is any favor ability to this game. The story sucked, the environment had 0 exploration like the old games had, all battles were too easy, exp share is for all Pokémon instead of 1, and the postgame was nonexistent. This game has little replay ability, only cool thing is the megas Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game sucks and is easily the point in the series that turned for the worse, but at least Pokemon Sun and Moon did solve it.

    Pros:
Good Graphics: The game is amazingly beautiful, with cell shading and beautiful models
Pokemon Amie: Great time waster, amazingly fun
Greninja and Talonflame: the best of this region
That's all I found to be fun.

    Cons:
Terrible Story: After the amazing Black and White, and Black 2 and White 2's Story, this game stepped down.
Terrible team: Stupid, unlikeable, and just plain bad, they aren't that threatening and don't do much.
Too Easy: At least add a difficulty setting, the game is stupidly easy, with the exp share, and the low-level AI
Terrible Designs: Outside of Talonflame and Greninja, the rest all suck.
Too focused on Graphics: PARFUM PALACE DID NOT NEED TO EXIST!
Mega Evolutions: Too broken, especially in competitive.

This game was overhyped and right now it's overrated, and terrible. 1/10

Pokemon X/Y is in 3D and that the only selling point; a feature many old DS games had going. Everything else is bare bones and played as safe as possible. Once the 3D thing wears off Pokemon Y is one of the most bare-bones games in the franchise with little going on, a laughable story that tries too hard to be serious and comes off even more silly than other games and even the music is forgettable at times. Now that the newer 3D installments have appeared there's no reason to come back to this generation for anything other than the completionists. At its core however it is still a pokemon game; but it plays everything so safe that's not a surprise Expand

Pokemon Why indeed. Where do I start... Positives:

-The game is now in full 3d -The end credits music was really good -They fixed the type balance by adding the fairy type -You can change haircuts now, which was really needed in BW2 Okay, now the "fun" part, the negatives: -It's in 3d but it's really bad looking for a 3ds game, these graphics would have fit more on a DS -The

Okay, now the "fun" part, the negatives:

-It's in 3d but it's really bad looking for a 3ds game, these graphics would have fit more on a DS
-The musics were pure pop music crap and didn't felt like pokemon music at all
    -The customisation is very limited
-Only 70 new pokemon, okay, this could be seen as good but their designs are still ridiculous.
-The controls are awful, either it's too stiff with the D-Pad and too slippery with the analog stick because you can't take the rollers off
-The rollers, they're slippery, they're very uncomfortable to use
-Kalos is a very boring and generic pokemon region, and also really small compared to B2W2 (maybe the second smallest region after Kanto)
-The bad guy is awful and wouldn't be accepted as a cheesy spy film villain (his plan being to kill everybody)
-The "Rivals"... They are so awful, they are all the same character, the happy go lucky kid that stalks you everywhere and are a real pain (also, got to share the glory by doing absolutely nothing to save the region)
-The addition of mega-evolutions completely broke the solo game
-No end game (I know there is one but it's so riiculous that it feels like none)
-Zygare is a joke for a legendary pokemon
-The overuse of nostalgia to hook older player in the pokemon universe which is a really weak way to do that
    -The tips... Why?
-The game is way too easy
-The pacing is awful, slow then very fast, especially the arena part
-No stereoscopic 3d on the map and dropping the FPS when used during battles... So you'll basically never use it

Overall, this game feels unfinished, unpolished. A lot of plot points never get resolved, the good ideas this game could have had completely misuses them. A game done without any passion or care which is a first for a pokemon game.
For now (and I hope, forever) it is the worst pokemon game and pokemon Gen I've ever played. And I played all the main games.

Really? 8.6. This is just the WORST Pokémon game by far.
To play this, better play "Sun and Moon" or "Black and White". This is just easy, boring, and the worst story with Ruby and Sapphire. The worst.

This game wasn't worth it, it was boring and bland, the partners are AWFUL and the theme to them is crap, Team Flare has to most stupidest Villan ever and the "Destory ugly" plot was awful.

Overrated archaic jrpg. Pokemon games have stayed relatively the same gameplay wise after 20 years, with minor insignificant additions that don't fundamentally change anything. You have to understand that this kind of gameplay was acceptable back in the 80s and early 90s on the NES and SNES consoles, but gaming has advanced a lot since then. You have to understand that this kind of gameplay was acceptable back in the 80s and early 90s on the NES and SNES consoles, but gaming has advanced a lot since then. On Gameboy the 1st generation was a success mostly because of the fun concept of monster catching and the anime, as a game even back then it was nothing special, little more than a fad.

That after 20 years, Nintendo has kept remaking the same archaic concept with minor additions and just upgrading the graphics, and the gullible masses keep buying this stuff, is buffling to me. Hugely overrated, and if you are older than 12 and still play Pokemon, something is wrong with you. I can play cute games just fine, it is not the presentation that is the issue, it is the gameplay. How can you find something so simplistic and easy/unchallenging, mentally stimulating, if you are an adult?

Broken balance. I have 7 overpowered pokemons (+10 lvl) after second gym. Despite the fact that I changed them all the time and went strictly according to the plot.

Despite welcoming Pokemon into the 3D world, Pokemon Y fails to take the challenge seriously. Unnoteworthy characters, a terrible bad guy team, muted ambiance, and a bare-bones narrative culminate in a title better left unplayed among plenty of others that came before and after it.

The definitive version of the game, but some evolution would be nice. [Dec 2013]
  2. 3D Visuals transformed the classic Pokemon approach in a good way. Online capabilities are top notch, this new generation will really make Pokemon fans happy.

The best Pokemon game since Gold and Silver. It’s worth buying a 3DS. [13/2013, p.76]
