Love that game, but 3D effect sucks. Pokemon X and Y have 30 hour-long story, but you can do many things after you finished the story, like breeding, online battle, and trading. Also you can catch more than 700 pokemon's.

Pokemon X and Y is veteran and newcomer friendly, and for veterans, the gameplay and design of the game was an enormous improvement in comparison to the previous games.

As for the depth in the plot, I would say it is as deep as the plot from DPPT. It's not as dramatic as ORAS/RSE or BW/2, but it's not as simple as RGB/FRLG. With a game like this, you'll care more about your team rather

You'll spend maybe 20 hours on the game if you want to rush through everything, but if you want to raise your friendship with your pokemon, perfect your team's movesets, and explore the many other features in this game, you'll spend about 50+ or even more.

(Really though, now that ORAS has been out for a while, you'll like that one more. :') Get both games if you can!)

6th gen doesnt have much of new pokemons. Mega evolution is completely useless and its copying digimon. Fairy type is stupid does seriously nothing. Easy gyms easy league and nothing at the end. Pokemon has loosed all what it had once. 3d doesnt help anything. Some are just ok but most are horrible.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review is intended to be read after playing the game:
Pokemon X and Y are often regarded as a disappointment and an overall low-quality game, something of which I to this day don't understand, but just let me tell you this:
Countless hours grinding does not equal content
I get it, it was very short and was by far the easiest Pokemon game in existence. But length and difficulty aside, it's amazing.
It has one of- no- THE best soundtrack out of any Pokemon game and the region was absolutely beautiful. It was also the first truly 3D Pokemon game with the ability to move around not according to a grid (of course, it wasn't until Sun and Moon that the grid was removed).
It may not have had many Pokemon, but the few Pokemon it did have were very well made (except for Klefki, screw Klefki). Basically, it favoured quality over quantity. Something they should've done since the very beginning. Just look at Talonflame, Aegislash or the ever popular Greninja. Or even the legendaries. Volcanion is also an amazing mythical Pokemon.
It had an amazing plot as well. Sure it had its flaws, like how Shauna is the most annoying character ever and how it had too many rivals and felt forced (Although, Serena/Calem was technically the only rival, the rest were just friends but that doesn't change the fact that it felt forced), but take a look at Team Flare. At first they seemed pretty stupid, just a bunch of people who wanted to be fabulous, but eventually it's revealed that Lysandre, the owner of that one company ran Team Flare and was trying to reset the world using AZ's ultimate weapon and only people who had paid Lysandre were allowed to live.
And unlike the typical "Villain sees the light" kind of ending, Lysandre ended up getting killed by his own weapon (or at least, it's heavily implied). And the ending scene with AZ and Floette speaks for itself.
It also introduced the fairy type, finally bringing balance to the ridiculously overpowered dragon types- and mega evolutions which broke everything but are amazing either way.

Overall, Pokemon X and Y is an amazing game with a great soundtrack, intriguing and original plot and a beautiful region. The lack of difficulty makes the game feel catered too much towards new audiences, but playing it as a challenge run (e.g Nuzlocke) can help make up for it.

Pokemon X doesn't offer much in the post game but offers a uniquely well done main story and region to explore. The 3D offers a lot and the character customization seals it as one of the best Pokemon games of all time!

For old players: the good ol' pokemon adventure, a light-hearted pass-time that will make you feel better

For returning players: New type and the first main series game to go full 3d models, with cell-shading

For new players: perfect entry point, it's simple yet very traditional

This was the first main Pokémon game I've ever played and I it's really good (Might even say my favourite), I mean it's just so fun to play, The Kalos region is pretty cool especially Lumiose City (My Opinion okay...leave me alone), The new Pokémon are pretty cool with my favourite being Greninja and Noivern. Graphics are good except for a few bits, they could be better but hey it's early 3DS so...The story I never pay attention to in Pokémon since it's never that important unless it's about legendaries or Mega evolution. Speaking of the new things this game brought are amazing, the best though is definitely mega evolution which allows you to evolve A Pokémon even further during battle And it's super cool and makes competitive battles more challenging and fun.. sometimes, another cool thing is the character customisation (Since this 3D they kinda had to) I wouldn't say it's the best in the series but I was pretty cool and a good thing to waste Hundreds of thousands of pokedollars on. Gameplay...I don't really need to say much..It's like any other Pokémon game except for its Easier then black and white especially when you catch Xerneas. Some of the music on the game is pretty good, Not all of it though. And if I have to complain about one thing..The gyms suck, They are pretty boring to go through and the battles are...pretty easy most of the time but the level difficulty for gyms have been the same for the past 7 years now so I can't say much. If you haven't played yet and want to give it a go I would recommend it....Okay bye Expand

My first Pokemon game was Black 2, and I didn't beat it because I got stuck at the 4th gym. Honestly didn't have a good time with the game. X is the absolute best Pokemon game to date. With actually interesting characters, Pokemon that are appealing to catch, and new features make this game an adventure from start to finish.

The villanous team is probably the worst one to date, all the rivals had almost zero personality (if any), the gym leader roster is at a series all time low, and that hasnt changed, the champion sucks (I literally refer to them as "Mr./Ms Nobody, that's how forgettable they are), megas were horribly unbalanced, sky battles and horde battles were meh additions, among other problems. El más fácil de la franquicia, haciendo que no llegue a comprometer al jugador casi en ningún momento y hasta aburra. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pokemon X and Y is a sugar coated adventure. While I consider the Diamond and Pearl remakes to be the worst games the core series, originally, I considered these games to be the weakest in the series. When your first 3D Pokemon adventure opens up with a route level that consists of nothing but a straight, barren path, doesn't the world of Kalos feel unfinished?

There are lots of empty caves with no Pokemon to be found such as the Chamber of Emptiness. Their are multiple sections of the power plant level that can't be accessed. The Unknown Dungeon isn't actually a dungeon. The secret floor of Lysandre Labs is a copy and paste job. It's a very underwhelming world to explore.

While most of the graphics are very appealing and the music is excellent, the gameplay itself is incredibly stale. At first, the level design doesn't seem so bad, even with overpowered Experience Share. But once you unlock the ability to Mega Evolve three badges into the game, the rest of the adventure is a cakewalk. And with the unnecessary support of all the rare gift Pokemon thrown into the mix, it doesn't take too long for any player to become unstoppable.

And if you're hoping to just enjoy this game for the story and the interaction of Kalos' lore, think again. Because unlike the anime, this world is void of personality. Your four rivals are nothing but walking tutorials. Important characters like Champion Diantha and AZ barely do anything in the game. The Professor's assistants are so forgettable that I used to believe their first appearance was in Sun and Moon. And Team Flare are nothing but unfunny narcissists.

The majority of this game is nothing but Pokemon cliches. Which really kills the replay value. One of the most important things to get right in a role playing game, is the feeling of freedom. When you prevent your players from exploring a giant city until they earn four more badges, it kills the inspiration for exploration. When a villain gives you the ability to activate the ultimate weapon and it does not impact the story in any way, it feels like a pointless decision. And when almost every level is ridiculously easy to complete, no matter how many different kinds of monsters you try to squeeze into the game, their is no reason for players to strive and make more powerful teams.

I don't get the appeal of this game, it treats its players like spoiled children constantly rewarding them with pseudo legendaries and overpowered abilities. All the emotional scenes feel forced and unearned due to how generic the quest feels. This game puts me to sleep. Stick to the X and Y anime.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pokemon X was my first ever pokemon game, It was my intro to the franchise and the basics of the games.

Now Gen 6 is by far the easiest generation of Pokemon ever created, So obviously X lacks a lot of difficulty of the originals, Now I was able to blast through the game in about 18-19 hours but your time may be different depending on the type of Pokemon player you are.

Now the region you explore is the Kalos Region which is heavily inspired by France and Europe.
This Region is absolutely brillant, It feels really fresh and fun to explore, Big but not to the point where you don't know where to go because of the 17 different paths you can take, and packed with plenty of Pokemon!

The story is pretty simple, Team Flare wants the legendary Pokemon (Since were playing X its Xerneas but if your playing Y its Ylvetal) to use its power to wipe out everyone and all the Pokemon alongside them.

Now for Gameplay its pretty simple, It still has the old quick and fast paced style of the old games, but with new features like the mega evolution and 3D Battles.
But this brillant gameplay is brought down by this games biggest flaw.

    The difficulty.
The difficulty is beyond levels of easy, Hell the champions battle wasn't even a champions battle, I kept one hitting all Dianthas Pokemon, I had more trouble with the rival battles then I did the entire elite four!

Overall the game is definitely worth a play if your a Pokemon fan or want to start the series, but its brought down by the difficulty.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ever since I was a kid, I had always wanted to play this game. Eventually I grew up and decided to buy a 3DS to play some games I had always wanted to, but couldn't because I was a kid, and my parents wouldn't let me. Looking upon it now as an adult, and not being into the Pokémon franchise as I once did, I have to say this game is pretty alright.

Even after almost a decade the graphics are still really great in my opinion. This ties well into the theme of beauty that this game is about. Other factors such as the fashion and clothing of the NPCs as well as your own character, the elegant music, the goals of Team Flare, the new 3D models, and much more make this game's theme ring strong.

As great as the theme is, there is not much underneath. Kalos is mostly style, with not much substance. The characters are not that great, and there are too many of them, especially your rivals. Other than Lysandre learning that it is not up to him to determine what is beautiful and what is not, as well as either Serena or Calem possibly learning something (I cannot remember), there is really no character development among any of them. I enjoy the ideas behind the rivals, namely with Trevor functioning as a unique rival who tries to catch more Pokémon than you. I barely caught any Pokémon my entire playthrough, and I don't remember him ever catching more than me, so he was a waste of a character. Tierno is largely forgettable, but I think he is not a total waste since he is into dancing, and that ties into the theme of beauty, since dance can be elegant and beautiful. Shauna was interesting since she had feelings for your character, but that went nowhere. Serena or Calem is your main rival, and they themselves are forgettable. In addition to this, the champion Diana is weak and also not particularly memorable.

The new features added in this game are quite good. I like Mega-Evolution, the new 3D models, as well as the new fairy type. There were not a whole lot of new Pokémon added this generation, but many new Mega-Evolutions were added, so I'll give it a pass. Some say the EXP share made the game too easy, but it can be turned off, so to me it is not a big deal. It comes in handy when you have to fight the Elite 4 and Champion, so you don't have to grind. Even with it off the game is pretty easy, but not a complete breeze.

The post-game was lack luster. Hanging out with Looker and catching remaining legendaries, as well as Battle maison were not awful, but nothing great. They could have let you go into the Power Plant and delved deeper into the lore of Zygard, but those were missed opportunites.

Overall, this game is worth playing, but it certainly is not the best. As I said before, it is mostly style with too little substance.

Very good and fun to play. The graphics were
quite good for 2013 and the gameplay was good. The game was a bit too easy and your pokemon would level up really fast. Overall a very good game.

This game is a decent pokemon game and it introduces fairy types and one of my favourite legendries. There is a lack of end game content though when catching legendries.

Pokémon X marks the beginning of Pokémon's 3D era, and the game takes advantage of that with more cinematic shots, the introduction of character customization and a feature that after almost 20 years of franchise finally allows players to pet and feed their Pokémon, leading to the most immersive Pokémon experience yet. Ironically enough, X is also the least interesting Pokémon adventure since Red and Blue, with a storyline full of the same plotpoints that the series has been recycling since the third generation, lacking the character depth of the fifth generation or the mythological depth of the other ones. Kalos lacks the defined identity of the previous regions, being thematically less focused, and yet the journey through it remains decently enjoyable to its grandiose cities and enchating towns immersed in a naturally and artistically luxurious aura emphasized by its orchestral, regal musical pieces. Megaevolutions attempt at revitalizing the repetitive core gameplay formula, but the novelty of it quickly wores off since only a handful of Pokémon can benefit from it, but especially because the game is so insultingly easy that you'll never really need to Megaevolve any of your Pokémon, leaving the repetitive formula of the series devoid of the challenge that made it worthwhile. Level Design, although visually creative, is significantly less deep than the previous games, with an extremely streamlined map structure that rarely gives any meaningful explorative freedom. All of this is aggravated by a meager postgame content that doesn't offer anything significant.

Now, the best point of this game is the gameplay, the gyms, the battles, the scenarios and the main villain are incredible. is to accompany and face. Definitely one of the best pokemon games ever and one of the best 3ds platform games. Expand

The competitive scenes were absolutely revolutionary for their time. Gen 6 featured a bigger Smogon than ever and the two most recognizable VGC tours to this date. The Vs. Recorder was a sandbox that allowed you to create matches against AIs in any way you wanted. This worked especially if you had 2 consoles with 2 compatible games. Gen 6 had the best online system to this date with the PSS having extremely convenient interface. Gen 6 introduced 3D models and advanced interaction with your Pokemon, allowing you to connect with them more. The 3DS games had some of the deepest lore in the series to talk about with other people. Super Secret Bases in ORAS ensured the Hoenn region was kept alive with something new and refreshing potentially coming every day. The introduction of megas were amazing and they gave the series so much life. This mechanic aimed to focus more on connecting the player to the Pokemon they have, unlike Dynamax and Terastallization. Gen 6 also expanded on shinies to make them more feasible to obtain, which gave rise to a dedicated shiny hunting community. Gen 6 was a time where the entire Pokemon community was at its most united since Gen 1, all because it mastered the fundamentals of what made Pokemon stand out while also leaving a lot to play with and discuss. You could really catch them all and aim to be the very best, like no one ever was.

I'm putting this up just for X in case I want to use Y to elaborate on my thoughts on XY specifically. atm I just wanted to give this game a score. I didn't give this game a 10, because in most aspects, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire outclass them and these games lack extra content in comparison to your typical upper version or remake games prior to Gen 8. They're still quite useful for collecting Pokemon in a way no other Pokemon game as of current can achieve and alongside Sun and Moon, are the best Pokemon games to introduce a generation.

The 3D makes the game look great, Kalos it's a beautiful region and probably has the best map of all principal games. The looks of the towns with the atmosphere it's also beautiful, the 69 new Pokémon doesn't look as bad as the Unova's ones, of course there's some that are just bad like Barbaracle but in every Pokémon game there's at least three or four designs that sucks. In general this game it's a great experience if you want to relax and have fun. Expand

The only reason I am giving it a rating as high as 3 is because this gave Game Freak some experience towards making better 3d games. These games in everything were bad. The Elite Four also do not have any Megas and ya don't fight one until the champion!?!? The new gimmick was completely overshadowed, even though it was a solid gimmick. It also was a shame because they did not put Mega Evolutions in the story. Imagine a game where scientists try to evolve Pokemon even further than Mega Evolution, and you have to stop them and at the end, fight an even more difficult boss (Probably Charizard because it is Game Freak's favorite child). I know it would have taken a lot more time to make, but instead of ORAS, they could have given us this. But the Pokemon were very cool. Trust me, it took me very long to not give this game a 5, just because it had Mega Gengar. Expand

Even if Pokémon X & Y has graphics in 3D and several other gameplay innovations it is still the same core experience as before. Focus is as always on catching them all and it is still an addictive experience. The difficulty bar is lower than before, the online functions more present and the gameplay mechanics better realised.
