    Takes what was once a wonderful experience and makes so many development mistakes that even Myst's wonderful story and puzzles can't fix it. Not even the Myst faithful should pick this up.

    If there's just one thing at which this particular version of Myst succeeds, it's serving as a prime example of what not to do when porting a classic game to a modern system.

    Myst is still one of my favorite games and it should have been excellent on the 3DS. The main issues for me in this version are that it'sMyst is still one of my favorite games and it should have been excellent on the 3DS. The main issues for me in this version are that it's hard to move the cursor with the analog stick so it's hard to push little buttons on the screen at times. It's hard to see small details that you need to click on at times and the books which are a HUGE part of the game are almost impossible to read because of the low resolution. Over all the game is still fun especially if you played it originally on the PC for someone new this is a pretty poor way to introduce yourself to the game and will probably get frustrated after a few hours of playing.… Full Review »

    It pains me to give this score to such an awesome series, believe me, I've played the series, and I loved it, but let me explain. This game isIt pains me to give this score to such an awesome series, believe me, I've played the series, and I loved it, but let me explain. This game is a port to the 90's hit Myst for the PC, a timeless point-and-click with intricate puzzles that stood out from the FPS games released on floppy disks at that time. The company made some sequels, some of them developed by Ubisoft, while the previous games were ported into lots of consoles. It's great for the company to have so many ports. There is however, one issue. The way the game is ported. And that's exactly what this port suffers from. The publisher even lied in their site for everyone to see: “We are delighted to be publishing MYST” commented Mark Clemens, Sales Manager at Funbox “This game needs no introduction and we’re sure it’s going to be a big hit with the fans that remember the original and those that will be new to one of the greatest adventure games ever, we’re sure we have a great hit on our hands and further enhances our commitment to bringing exciting products and licenses to the market across all platforms”.
    Why does it suck? Let's get straight to the point now:
    -Original format is outdated: porting the game with the old styled slide show format is an inexcusable, tasteless thing to do on a console that, with some little effort, can display Myst on full 3D graphics, just like the screenshot this port copies from, realMYST!! A game that had 3D graphics in perfect FPS, and that was released in 2000!!!
    -Bad resolution: Myst suffers from a horrible screen size in this port, the letters in books (important plot items) are pretty painful to watch, and having a big screened 3DS won't change the situation too much. The puzzles are too small to press, and that makes it so frustrating, it's not even funny. Even the new Age (world in our language) that never appeared in a slideshow format before, since it was released on realMyst, Rime, looks unbearable, pixelated, and uncanny, considering the Age only has night-time.
    -Visuals: As the screen resolution looks bad, the pictures took straight from realMyst has an unpleasant blasphemous compression quality, as they look like they were taken from a 90's PC. And the video cutscenes...God help us not punch the screen. Some of the cutscenes have audio sync issues. It's a nightmare, and even more clips are badly resized or imposed on different places, as the quality of the audio is unworthy for this generation.
    There is also a map, that you can barely read because of the screen size and compression, so there's that. No care and effort.
    -Gameplay: Nothing has pretty much changed from the original installment. Now you can take pictures (don't do that btw, it would be better buying the 3D remakes and making as many pics as you want from those games, as you would want to forget you even played this.), you can save and load. But how do you point-and-click? Not the touch screen, not the D-Pad, but with the Circle Pad. The sensitivity is too high, and every time you let go of the Circle Pad, the pointer goes back to it's original position. It's the most awful concept of control ever perceived, as many puzzles that require you to input a combination, will also require you to have steady surgeon hands in order to pont correctly at that small little spot you grasp your life in order to end the game.
    -Pricing: Suffice to say, DON'T BUY this game on the original pricing, 30$, don't ever even bother it, just get the realMyst: Masterpiece Edition, realMyst, or get realRiven when it comes out, as they are much cheaper. Great engines, realtime experience, and 3D graphics that pay tribute to the game, more than than any port ever did.    … Full Review »
