MH3U is more beautiful than recent titles in my opinion. I actually don't mind the underwater fights. I'm more upset that they don't have online multiplayer for 3DS. Definitely tons better than MH Tri in the diversity of maps and monsters. Not quite as beginner friendly as 4U or generations though.

I can only say one thing about this game, IT IS AMAZING. Many people complain about clunky controls and a huge learning curve. I agree there is a large learning curve as you start to fight more monsters and learn the weapon controls, but controls in my opinion are great. I do agree that no online play is a little disappointing, but monster hunter has always been a local co-op play game. I recommend this game over monster hunter 4 ultimate, but both are still amazing games.

There's lots of customization for your character. You get to slaughter massive monsters. You can carry a blade twice the size of your character, and maneuver around like a bloody pro. Getting bored of slaying huge monsters? No problem! Run into a cave and mine! Go fishing, because screw saving the town from a huge thunder serpent. I just wanna eat some salmon.

The only downside to this game is the huge learning curve that is even bigger due to the lack of online. But you are going to have to do some grinding, good or not, later down the line as this game is huge! Each weapon makes it feel like a different game and the huge quantity of monsters means there is ALWAYS a bigger badder monster weighting behind the corner.
The graphics are great but who cares anyway, you didn't buy a 3DS for the graphics did you? The offline story is the same as Tri plus high rank offering a few new monsters if you have played portable 3rd. The "online quests" are the same as the offline ones until you get to G-rank so just play through the offline ones first and the controls take getting used to but when you've got them down it will become second nature.

    -Lots of monsters

    -No online
-If you have played P3rd then theirs not as much new stuff (maybe try being patient next time?)
-Big learning curve for new players

If I only had one game for my 3ds this would be it as it's a lot of fun, rewards like no other, and takes many thousands of hours to complete using all weapons types / classes.

Highly recommended to fans of the franchise or to anyone that likes fighting with a solid tactical / strategic foundation.

There's no story-based payoff for killing most monsters, but even then the experience is so relieving when you finally defeat one or sometimes even two large monsters. Co-op is also incredibly fun. Whilst the general pool of quests is lower than the amount you'd see in the single player, the game has such strong teamwork built into it that it even rivals MOBAs. The only complaint I have is that a Circle Pad Pro or the New Nintendo 3DS is a compliment to the game, otherwise underwater monsters will be a pain to fight. Of course, you can always buy it on the Wii U. Expand

Granted, this is a game that definitely needs the Circle Pad Pro to enjoy it at it's full potential. But once you get a hold of it, and the mechanics, you won't let it go. Some issues for the new owners will be the controls, since you need to time every action and expect a couple of hits while waiting for your character to finish the last move, but that's exactly the beauty of MH3.Granted, this is a game that definitely needs the Circle Pad Pro to enjoy it at it's full potential. Was a lovely improvement on Tri for the Wii and is a game that should definitely be recommended to all friends who have a 3DS or not (if they don't then this is a must-buy), although not completely flawless (underwater camera control is still iffy) but a great multi-player experience and can't wait for MH4U to come out in 2015!!

The weapon types are very cool(dual blades for the win), armor can literally can look like anything, and the monsters you fight always look like Pacific Rim sea monsters or default Dinosaur. The real issue I have is that its for the 3DS and the camera is not that great its even worse when your in the water. That's the real issue with this, I still love this game regardless. Grinding may put some people off, but each fight is different and rewards the players skill over time. The graphics are amazing considering its a handheld game with a variety of environments and many monster to hunt,

Only cons with the game is the lack of an online multiplayer which is a distinct feature of the monster hunter series however can 1) play multiplayer through a local connection or 2) connect through a Wii U.
