If you’re looking for something with a Mega Man feel that’ll quench your retro thirst, Mighty Gunvolt is short, sweet, and gets directly to the point.

It's one of the best bite-sized 3DS downloadable titles to date, and loads of fun for fans of classic games.

It’s fine-tuned in every way, with satisfying gameplay, graphics and sound that accurately represent the 8-bit era they pay homage to.

Mighty Gunvolt is a more deliberate homage to Capcom’s NES Mega Man games than its parent title, and it’s a very good one, at that.

Mighty Gunvolt is short, but sweet. It's not incredibly difficult, but it's not necessarily meant to be, either. It's an experience more than a full-fledged game, a taste of what Inti Creates is capable of when they strip everything away and go back to the 8-bit style and aesthetic they proved to know so much about when creating Mega Man 9 and 10.

Mighty Gunvolt intends to be a tribute to the 8-bit era of Mega Man...and quite a fitting tribute it is, all the conventions of the 8-bit action game are accurately portrayed in this bonus giveaway which comes along Azure Striker Gunvolt.

As a standalone game, Mighty Gunvolt would feel a tad unfinished. Although all three characters are compelling enough to star in their own platformer, the distinct lack of worlds and exposition won't keep you invested very long. But as a free extra for Azure Striker Gunvolt, Mighty is a great gift to fans, and an even greater teaser to hold people over for what's to come in Mighty No. 9.

Mighty Gunvolt is very very short, even for its budget price, but still pays an emotional tribute to the 8-bit age in a very very awesome way.

With a lack of difficulty, a dearth of originality, and a criminally short running time, fans are far better off sticking with the characters' original games.
