Series fans will love getting to experience classic copy abilities to the fullest in a new setting, and fighting types will appreciate the variety and depth of the fast-paced Kirby combat — if you find yourself in either camp, Fighters Deluxe deserves a privileged place on your 3DS menu.

It is almost as addicting as Smash Bros. It may not be as challenging or have as many characters as Smash Bros. but definitely worth checking out.

Kirby Fighters Deluxe is a simple and charming brawler which lacks content on the long run.

A nice standalone version of Kirby Triple Deluxe's bonus mode, with a bunch of new arenas and features.

Kirby Fighters Deluxe is a nice standalone version of a fun bonus mode from Kirby: Triple Deluxe that I can only really recommend if you ever see yourself playing local multiplayer.

When four small mallowpuffs are jumbled together in the corner of one small screen, you get a Kirby fluster-cluck.

The idea of creating a single Kirby game out of a minigame is laudable and Kirby Fighters Deluxe will be enjoyed mostly by those looking for quick, fun rounds of combat, whether singularly or up to four players. It doesn’t stretch much further, though, and it gets repetitive quickly enough.

If you own a 3DS and somehow don't own either Smash or Kirby Triple Deluxe, Kirby Fighters Deluxe offers a passable platform-fighting game with an excellent sense of style.

The latest Kirby spinoff takes more than a few pages from Smash Bros.’ book- but it’s an alternative nevertheless.

If you’re looking for something to take up ten minutes of your time and you’re having one of those days where nothing is going your way then hop aboard the Kirby Fighting Deluxe train. If you are looking for a fighting game where you can “smash” the opposition, then other games are available, although I’m not giving you any clues as to what they are.

I figured this would help curb my craving for 4-way brawlers until the release of Super Smash Bros. And sure enough, it did—for a few hours, which was how long it took to unlock all the extra hats for each of Kirby’s abilities (one of which looks like a jockstrap). Speaking of abilities, you only get a handful right off the bat, while 2 others can only be unlocked with StreetPass data from Triple Deluxe. With an option to purchase Triple Deluxe and no online multiplayer, this is basically a demo (and at $7, a rather expensive one) of the “full game" which, in turn, tries getting buyers to pay twice for the same sub-game. Once, you complete the game's main mode, there is nothing but repeating yourself over and over again, just because you spent a few pounds on it. Besides, when you own Kirby Fighters 2, Kirby Fighters Deluxe feels like a less limited demo version of the main game. Full Review »
