If you survive Iron Combat’s difficulty and manage master the controls, you will have a great game with a fast-paced game and a lot of action for a good price. If you don’t, you will have a frustrating game that you will get stuck forever.

For the fun gameplay alone, Iron Combat: War in the Air comes highly recommended. The learning curve is not too steep and it's a joy to play. However, it's not without a few flaws, so it is unlikely to appeal to everybody.

Iron Combat's greatest offence, such as it is, is not putting to proper use the truly fun mechanics it introduces; this isn't necessarily a reason not to buy it, but it should be considered for those looking for a lengthier experience.

While showing a couple of good ideas, Iron Combat: War in the Air is marred by some problems like frustrating controls, somewhat boring action, and an artificially inflated difficulty. It is not a really bad game, but neither it is good, and the good ideas contrived by the team deserve a better showcase, possibly in a sequel.

Iron Combat: War in the Air is bold enough to present a certain degree of innovation into a genre that mostly relies on the past. Unfortunately their implementation is not up to what they propose to do and as such, War in the Air ends up being a repetitive and often too demanding game with some confusing controllers and monotonous levels.

There are better options in the eShop, but if someone is looking for something new, Iron Combat might do in a pinch.
